    Keeping bottles sanitized

I think putting them on a tree is fine. If you really want to be sure, or you are leaving them for a longer period than a few weeks, maybe you could just cap the empties? Caps are cheap and it would guarantee nothing getting in the bottle in between brews. Probably too much work but hey it's...

    Spent Grains & Hops

mine go down the garbage disposal. They always smell so good it seems like a shame but yes I think they might attract vermin if left outside.

    dry hopping. alternative to marbles?

Well I have never done this but I amt hinking if you want something that you could get around the house grab a glass beer mug, cup or anything glass with a handle, sanitize it, tie the bag to it, and sink away. it would be crude but effective. And you wouldn't need to go buy any marbles. :cross:

Why are my caps TWISTING OFF?

First thing that comes to mind is that you may not be using enough force to get a good seal. Exactly what kind of bottles and caps are you using?

    Whats a racking tube for?

Also if you bought a homebewing kit it should have come with a 3 foot or so length of clear tubing. That is used to go from the end of the racking cane into the bottom of the bottling bucket, and also as a connection between the bottling bucket spigot and the bottling tube.

    Whats a racking tube for?

Well hopefully I have this right... The racking cane is the long tube shaped like a cane with a bend about 4 inches from the end. This is to stick down into your fermenter and siphon the beer into the bottling bucket. The reason you siphon instead of pouring is the prevent oxygenating your...

    Best online ingredient source?

I do understand wanting to save a few dollars, but if we all do that, the convenience of actually having a LHBS might go away. Just imagine if you ever forgot, lost, or broke something in the middle of a brew session and couldn't just run down and get a new airlock, siphon tube, yeast packet, or...

What do you think about bottled water?

I even boil bottled water. Am I being paranoid? Maybe, but I have yet to have a spoiled batch. (as I walk off to find some wood to knock on)

    Removing Labels?

Another way to do it that works great for me: Put the bottles in the dishwasher. If you have it use the extra hot setting. Don't use soap obviously. You can also do it in the rinse only cycle to save time if you washer will dry after "rinse only". Then when the bottles have been rinsed, about...
