Welding SS with flux-core wire do I need shielding gas?

I have never used it, but I would think you would need to back gas to prevent the sugaring. You might be able to use a paste flux instead of gas.

    Electric Element Control question

Well I almost have it all together... last minute decision left me an ssr short... I decided to go with a 5500W in the HLT instead of a 2000W 120V element so I will have to break that other leg with a switch or a contactor. Maybe I can get it all together and brew this weekend? We'll see...

Drip Rag instead of Drip Tray?

Drip-dog is multi-purpose...cleans up racking spills also. Although he has been known to create his own clean up needs...when I have left my beer unattended on the coffee table.

    Electric Element Control question

I don't know about their site but I was carrying it around my local store yesterday trying to decide what I wanted to do. It was 18 and some change. I have been waffling between hard mounted elements and heat sticks... hard mounted elements are winning just cuz there are no submerged wires...

    Electric Element Control question

That's what I thought. Thanks I have another question. Will the 50A GFCI do it's job if I have other breakers in front of it?

    Electric Element Control question

I want to build an e-keggle. I have 240v (220V?) available. I am going to use a 50A GFCI breaker in the main panel, a 30A breaker and a 20A (120V) in a sub-panel. I wanted to use a 2000w 120V in my HLT and a 4500 or 5500W in the brew kettle. What is the purpose of the SSR and PID? is it just...

DIY Grain Mill. I was excited until....

This is my intention at this point. I had already purchased the stuff and discovered the opinions that it would wear out rapidly and contaminate my mash. No one had gone through the motions to verify this opinion. I can think of a few ways to test the wear and that's a digital micrometer...

DIY Grain Mill. I was excited until....

I know the rollers aren't even... the stupid screws pulled it out of whack. My original design had gap adjustability... I wasnt going to put the effort into it unless it proves fruitful.

DIY Grain Mill. I was excited until....

haven't milled anything with it. I just slapped it together to see if it wears out. Maybe I'll get to using it soon. I wont be brewing until the 27th so I won't have anything to add until then.

    Stone Ruination Clone?

I dry hopped in the primary. I let her run 14 days then dry hopped and left it in another week.

    Stone Ruination Clone?

I used 1056 with mine. To my taste buds it's close enough especially with the real thing @ 16 bucks a sixer.

    Stone Ruination Clone?

i just looked at it again. I did the all-grain. the PM does say 22 but that is a typo.

    Stone Ruination Clone?

I brewed it and I think it is pretty darn close to the original. I haven't done a side by side... but my memory thinks it tastes the same. It's 2.0 oz of whole centenninal dry hop by the way... not 22
