    Shiner Blonde Clone

My son who lives in Texas swears by Shiner Blonde is the best beer he has ever drank. He will be coming home for at the end of next month and I would like to surprise him by making a Shiner Blonde. Does anyone have a recipe that is close to this beer. Thanks TD

    aeration is it really needed?

I too aerate with O2 and stone. I have noticed a longer lag time. I also have noticed a better tasting overall product. One question though. I have always aerated and then piched my yeast. What would happen if I threw the yeast and then aerated?? TD

    Minibrew 6.5 conical review

Well now that you mention it I brewed a Honey Wheat last summer and had to take the airlock off. I placed the airlock stopper back in with a 6 inch section of a cut off racking cane inserted in it and attached a hose and ran into a gallon milk jug. I left it there for a couple of days and then...

    Minibrew 6.5 conical review

I have the same set up and reading your post is the first time I have ever thought about O2 entering the conical. It has never been a problem in the 10 batches that I have brewed. I guess you could look at it this way. CO2 is on top of your beer. When you drop trub out the bottom oxygen...

    Iraq dilemma

As a OIF Veteran, I would personally like to thank you for your service to our country. It will be a long hard year and the most challenging of your life but when it is all said and done you will look back and realize that it was the most rewarding. You will have changed the word. Good Luck...

    Wort Mixer

My main goal is to keep the boiling wort ingredients mixing at all times. Once the ingredients are added I use the mixer to agitate the wort throughout the boil and to keep the wort thoughly mixed. I have never had a boil over or scorched extract on the bottom since using my homemade agitator...

    Wort Mixer

I have a homemade electric mixer that I have been using for over the last year. It is functional but just doesn't have the RPM's to stir the wort to my satisfaction. I have found one at this location and would like the forums opinion on it...

Mini-Brew Plastic Conical Fermenters (6.5 Gallon)

Bingo on that. I too had the same set up and used it once. Decided in a hurry that it was an accident waiting to happen. Went and bought my current set up and haven't looked back since. TD

Mini-Brew Plastic Conical Fermenters (6.5 Gallon)

SilkkyBrew, I have one like you have describe and love it. I use it for both my primary and secondary. There is an outlet on the bottom that allows me to dump my trub to get it below the racking port. Then I just hook up my racking hose and rack. Works like a charm. I would recommend it...

Anybody else have a busy brew day?

After my last two brewing disasters, 1. Dropping and breaking my glass carboy, amoung other things that went wrong with that batch. 2. Counter Flow Chiller plugging up with the other batch. Sunday was pretty uneventful. I went back to my immersion cooler and everything went smoothly...

    CO2 Cartridges

I have a mini kegs system that I just love. The only drawback is the expense of the CO2 bulbs. My question is, Can the CO2 bulbs used for BB guns be used to force the beer out? They are identical in size and would fit perfectly. The only drawback that I can see is that the package says not...

How long does it take you to brew!

Extract, Usually 3 - 4 hours. I have taken steps to speed up my process by: 1. When I have grains to simmer I have a separate 3 gallon SS pot that I put on the stove to simmer the grains. Meanwhile I put my 7 gallon pot on my propane burner and start to heat up the water at the same time...

    Chances Of This Working

Being relatively new to the HB scene when compared to the veterans on this board I am in need of your advice as to the chances of this batch working. Last night I brewed a Cream Ale from recipes that I gathered from others on this board. To say it was uneventful is an understatement. The...
