    All oat beer from oatmeal

Very relevant and helpful, thank you.

    All oat beer from oatmeal

Not intentionally, no. I think I'll add raisins and brown sugar. Do you think the amylase will convert a decent amount of the starch?

    Need Mead Recipie

I'm not an expert, I would consult recipes. The recipes I've seen ate 18lbs for 5gallons. This is my basic little experiment. 2lbs honey, a few raisins for nutrients, and some apple juice. Very slow.

    All oat beer from oatmeal

I'm hoping to convert enough of the starch to have a beer that's at least 2 or 3 percent

    All oat beer from oatmeal

I have some fermented rice in the form of sake lees, is there a good way to turn it into soup? I was thinking of adding anchovies and tofu

    All oat beer from oatmeal

Hmm... I'm wondering if a cider press is a good idea. I could also leave the oats in the fermentation vessel, and worry about pressing after. Maybe a beer oatmeal soup could come out of this also

    cooking with trub

    What's in your soup kettle?

Homemade chicken and vegetable is my favorite. Just chicken, lots of onions, some carrots and celery, garlic, and salt. If it's survival mode soup I throw in things like noodles rice beets or pork Looking into making some miso-like soup from sake lees I just pressed with some anchovies for the...

first attempt at Welch's white wine

I'm doing the same thing right now, Welch's white grape juice. I'm going from frozen concentrate, however. I've done it from juice that's not from concentrate before and like you said it wasn't really good or bad. I'm using distillers yeast and plan to carbonate it after it ferments out all the...

    All oat beer from oatmeal

Has anyone tried this? I boiled oatmeal, let it cool to 140 and then added some amylase. Letting it sit overnight to hopefully convert some. Hopefully I don't wake up to a solid mass of oatmeal

    Just brewed a simple experiment

I just did a 3.3lb pale malt LME + 1lb wheat DME + 2lb flaked barley(cereal mashed with amylase) and a little oatmeal. Turned out to be 6 liters, so we have a similar brew. Didn't use any hops.

    College brewing

As a college student, I would get the bare minimum. Look on Craigslist for a 5gal glass carboy, ask around for pop top bottles but you can just use soda bottles in a pinch. You can get carboy bungs from your local homebrew store or eBay/amazon. You can also use any type 1 plastic container as a...
