    boiling to reach SG... help

The runoff. He means when the runoff reaches 1.010. After everything has been rinsed and you are draining very light wort. Stupid question but did you crush the grain?

    boiling to reach SG... help

This doesn't sound right. 1.010 is way too low for a pre boil gravity. More information is needed. what grains and how much, mash time.

    Who is brewing on Sunday???

I'm a big Steelers fan. Born and raised in Pittsburgh. I get so damn nervous watching this time of year that I need to be doing something while watching. So I brewed a batch of Edworts HPA. Brewing really helps calm the nerves.

    wort chiller construction

Your idea sounds good. Try a Sono-tube from Home Depot. They're used to make concrete footings or posts. Should be only a few bucks.

    Relax, don't worry, my a**

Brewed my first all grain today. Couldn't get my sparge going. I made the Flyguy MLT with braided hose over notched plastic tubing. After trying to drain the wort for 1.5 hrs, I had to empty the MLT into a separate container, remove the plastic tube and used plastic ties to clamp to the nipples...

    Primary fermenter size

Hello All, My first post here. I have always used a 6 gallon carboy for primary and racked to a 5 gallon secondary. I don't get any blowoff in the 6 gallon because of all the extra head space. Is this bad practice? Do most of you use a 5 gallon carboy so it will blow off some of the icky...
