    Great girlfriend/future wife story...

Mmmmmmmm.... I used to work about 5 minutes from GLBC and a good friend used to work for them. Good times. Worked out especially nice when a keg of Nosferatu or Dortmunder would find its way to the trunk of the car for a party, err "beer tasting..." :rockin:

    Great girlfriend/future wife story...

You are a lucky man. Actually, my fiancee has been very understanding about the space I keep taking up between brewing equipment and the 4 corney kegerator. But she gets out of dodge on brew day. "Hey, it's your hobby, not mine." :)

    Am I cheating?

The grain police are packing a little more fire power than expected these days...

I'm an idiot, pitched yeast too hot!

Like a lot of folks have told you - you're not the first person to have done this... and you won't be the last. The first beer I made, I pitched while it was way too warm. It was beer, but I won't lie, it wasn't a great beer. Certainly had some esters and some fusel off-tastes. Don't worry -...

    20 Gallon Day

Somewhere last summer I started w/ the 20 gallon days doing 4 five gallon extract kits per brewday. it certainly makes for a long day full of multitasking and I'm usually pretty wiped out after - but I do like only having to set-up and tear-down once. I've said repeatedly that once I make the...

What beer would you describe as the beer that 'awakened' you...?

Similar experience... was a Budweiser guy in the college days. Shortly after someone tossed me a Sam Adams Boston Lager and the rest was, as they say, history. Although some beers have been more influential since then. For example, Cantillon's gueuze really opened up my eyes to how a lambic...

Beer and food in same kettle?

Awesome... macrobrew. Just add a bag of rice and some chemically treated woodchips and this Bud's for you. ;)

Too much water added to wort

As I'm getting married in a couple of months, I should add that everyone keeps telling me a similar warning message should come with the instructions on buying a wedding ring. And yes, I can hear all of you groaning at the weak and obvious joke. Thank you.... I'm here all week. Don't forget...

    Krausen in the blowoff tube

However... if you are curious as to what it looks like when you use a small diameter hose and it clogs... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/blowoff-tube-fail-102342/

    Gremlyn1, that looks really awesome!

    I HATE bottling!!

I wimped out. All my parts are in for my new keezer and the kegs are lined up waiting to be filled. That said, Revvy's tutorial really DOES help. I was also getting a 5 gallon batch of beer bottled in an hour - but my biggest problem was I'd end up putting off the chore of bottling until I...

    Brewing Kits

Amen. I've also been very happy with AHS and their beer kits. It's now the first place I shop for anything. As for equipment kits - my only advise would be to get a 2 bucket kit instead of one with a bucket and a glass carboy. But I just don't like the glass carboys. Things I think should...

Risks of Long Build Up to Boil???

First off, welcome to the site! Generally speaking, that hot heat source on the bottom of the pot is going to affect the color of the beer, even if your wort hasn't reached a boil yet. It's going to inevitably caramelize some of those sugars in the bottom of the pot and lead to an end product...

Are you getting fat from HB?

Nope... I was already fat before I started homebrewing.

    New to homebrewing.. some concerns...

Don't worry, the waiting gets easier. You'll learn to trust that the yeast are doing their job. It gets even easier to wait after you've got a pipeline going to enjoy guzzling down some of those others you've made while you wait.

Congrats. It's a nice milestone, isn't it? Here's to year two! :mug:

What did I just make? OG=1.110???

Wow, I always take my BB's, lean them over at a 45 degree angle, and roll/shake them like they owe me money to aerate. Apparently I'm going to have to rethink that. I'd be seriously peeved to have the seam fail.
