    Help on conical fermenter

I'm sorry I missed the part where they interrupted you mid sentence. In your "addressing of concerns" about the PRV you implied on how their design is inferior and they responded in turn. Unless you are speaking of another thread I didn't get this at all and it will Don't get me wrong I...

    Airlock for dry hopping: Crazy?

Probably unnecessary. You could just purge head space with more co2 or add them during active fermentation so fermentation would scrub o2 out better. Try fermenting with a spunding set to 2-3 psi once you dry hop to hold in more of the volatile aromatics. I have heard this works well.

    Help on conical fermenter

So everything else being equal. (Lets just assume the jacket and additional chilling coil bring it to the same price as SsBrewtech's) The Spike still has a fully welded/ fully sanitary design. Just sayin

    I need a new hydrometer

I'm a fan of the narrow range precision hydrometers Morebeer and Northern brewer carry .980-1.020, 1.000-1.060, 1.060-1.120. Easy to read and accurate

    Cornical™ Modular Keg System

LOL Alright you get a pass in your circumstance ;) :mug:

    Cornical™ Modular Keg System

The overpriced comes more when you want to have a pipeline, unless you ferment one beer and then drink and repeat. Someone said the extra kegs are something like $175 each compared to $50-100 for standard corny's or pinlocks. The inverting the conical/keg could be problematic as you never...

    Cornical™ Modular Keg System

+1 for the spike conical. It by far looks like it will have the best options versus price. I am very interested to see what cooling options the release for it. They are even hinting at pressure fermenting, but I could be interpreting that wrong

    Cornical™ Modular Keg System

Seems like everyone wants to reinvent the wheel I think this is Blichmann trying to be innovative and hoping to remain relevant with increased competition in a slightly shrinking market. It seems ill conceived and problematic at best. Especially for the price. Now their quick carb is at least...

    Stainless Hop Spider mesh size

Seems like it is recommended the diameter of the hop spider be at least half the dimension of your pot. I could be making that up, but I believe I read that on utahbiodiesel or arbor fabs website.

    Stainless Hop Spider mesh size

I have a 8"x16" that I use for 10 gallon batches. Works great no clogging with over a pound of hops in it. Drains pretty good too 300 micron from arbor fab. I do clean it with pbw every 2or 3 batches though.

    Spike... I need a conical

@SpikeBrewing Do you have handy the wort volumes for the different ports? i.e. the racking port, thermometer port, sampling port. I primarily do 6 and 11 gallon batches into the fermenter. and figured the 14 G would cover both of these needs. Also if you are building a submersible chilling...

Second Look: SS Brewtech Infussion Mash Tun with MTSS

Well that is a shame that their customer service is so horrible on a poorly conceived and tested product. It shows the measure of the company. Part of the same reason when I buy a conical this next year it will likely be a Spike (If its as good as it looks) instead of SSBrewtech. I have had...

Second Look: SS Brewtech Infussion Mash Tun with MTSS

I have never had a problem with my 20 gallon (no MTSS) holding temp even in 20-30 degree winter weather. I think I have said before. It appears the the MTSS has been a flawed concept from inception and causes more problems than it solves. continuously heating a mash without recirculation...

My SS Brewtech Mash Tun Review

I definitely wouldn't recommend trying to move this even half full of grain. you will just end up denting it or throwing out your back. My brew day clean ups have been. Use an old pitcher to clean out spent grain into a trash can with the heavy duty contractor bags from HD as much as...

My SS Brewtech Mash Tun Review

Mashed a RIS @ 1.25 qts/lb. #48.5 lbs of grain total. Recirculation was slow even with .5 lbs of rice hull, though this was expected with the depth of the grain bed. Everything went great until I wasn't paying attention to my fly sparge and the tun overflowed a little. Ended up with 14.5 G...

CIP Question - What is your setup?

You would figure the barb has to be somewhere to attach to tubing. It seems the most common tubing is reinforced clear pvc. Cam lock is nice but I could just thread one on to a MPT fitting

Putting together an O2 system... question

Would burping the line with O2 to create a little positive pressure work? Or just feeding it at a very slow rate the entire transfer are all I can think of other than augiedoggy's idea of a valve with less tubing to clean after
