anyone use a quick carb motor to filter?

Sorry I shouldve been specific the clarifier. I was looking at getting the 5 and 1 micron. Use the 5 for most beers and the 1 for beers that really benefit from the extra polish. Such as lagers

anyone use a quick carb motor to filter?

How did you like this product in general? I have been eyeballing it

    Conical thoughts

It is always a gamble buying something newly developed sight unseen, I would look at the company in general and between what they have shown and their track record on their other products. The companies level of customer service would be important too. Are they gonna take care of you if the...

    SS Brewtech Brite Tanks

Fair enough, but I fully expect you to disclose the how/when/ and where when the time comes ;-). I will be piecing together a glycol system later this year and standard temperature controller just seem so inelegant. Temp overshoot and what not. plus being able to control and view parameters...

    SS Brewtech Brite Tanks

Please share what you speak of arduino based system. Is it Brew pi? I was led to believe it wasn't configured for a glycol system.

How to heat a jacketed conical

Well if you would look at SSbrewtech this is how they do it. I don't have it so I couldn't comment as to how effective it is but you will get convection just heating the bottom. Maybe someone with their heating cooling package can comment.

How to heat a jacketed conical

Is the bottom of the cone jacketed too? If it isn't you could heat wrap there. Similar to SSbrewtech's set up. Or put a largish aquarium heater in your glycol bath. I imagine the heat up time and hysteresis would be fairly large thoough

    Spike brew kettle

I have a SSBrewtech same pot and element size. Once I get it to a boil I cut it back to 65-70% and get 1.2 GPH. Not saying you are doing it wrong just illustrating how much difference you can get and reinforcing your first statement

ss brew tech 20 gallon mash tun

perfect analogy. I don't know why everyone can't draw this parrallel I always preheated mine 5-10 degrees depending on outside temperate. Mash temps always stayed within 0.5 degrees

ss brew tech 20 gallon mash tun

When I did single infusion with mine I would always overheat my strike water by a few degrees more than I normally would and let it preheat for 10 mins. stir to bring it down to my desired strike temp after and dough in after. Worked well for me. Most batches stayed within a degree of dough in...

My SS Brewtech Mash Tun Review

I used their seal. It fits great, possibly better. Goes on easier too since the blichmann has a smooth edge around their FB. Just spray a little diluted star san in my tun to lubricate and slide it in Edited: pics or it didn't happen

My SS Brewtech Mash Tun Review

None carry over whatsoever, but I don't use Ss's false bottom. IMHO it was the one failing of this piece of equipment. I switched to a Blichmann FB which fits perfectly. My crush is .045 through a MM3 monster mill. My Mash eff is usually in the mid 80's for up to a 1.070 ish beer

    3 Roller Mega Mill Build

I guess this is the advantage to having the skill and access to proper tools to machine your own parts. Helluva good looking crusher so far

My SS Brewtech Mash Tun Review

Recirculated the mash while holding a steady mash temp. Not necessary with this mash tun, but I was converting to an all electric set up and just added it. I can also easily do step mashes. Just finished doing one for a spelt saison today.

    Help on conical fermenter

You know I would've laughed at this comment a few months ago. Thinking why would AB Inbev have any interest in a company like theirs, but with their recent acquisition of Northern Brewer/Midwest Supplies the comment is no longer laughable. @Ss_Michael and @SpikeBrewing you guys represent the...

    Help on conical fermenter

@Ss_Michael if that was the spirit of your comments and not just a pissing contest with another manufacturer then I apologize. It just came off as over the top confrontational and d*ck (ish). I will just assume I put meaning and inflection where it wasn't. Cheers

    Help on conical fermenter

thats the bit I am talking about. That and the mention of the extra PSI capacity being useless Maybe so but I didn't see it in this thread nor have I seen them do it in others. (I know that doesn't mean it didn't happen) My response history in this thread hasn't said one bad thing about...

Location of MLT manifold line to output

If it is completely level the output location shouldn't matter much. If there is even the slightest pitch to it you would want it at the lowest spot
