Thin, white, bubbly film on secondary

Not dry-hopping an IPA is a huge mistake. Maybe the cause is an entry of infection when opening the vessel, and not the bags, as you've stated you soaked in iodophor. A hair falling in, something floating in the air, who knows, **** happens. But not dry-hopping an IPA? Brewer Failure.

Any Interest In 2nd Annual Michigan Predators' Brewday?

I beg to differ; in this case an open hand slap would be less preferable to a direct cock punch. It may be merely a matter of technique, but I think you can't go wrong with a good cock punch.

    Just In:

25% of British men carry a stuffed animal in their luggage. From Fox News, so you know this is accurate. Swear to God; it was just on the Sheperd Smith Hour.

    Black IPA Help

I get 25SRM in BS using pale malt, without the roast, and it's mighty black.

152* is medium, 154* is getting sweet. Most go 150*, I like 149*, but I am not anal on holding exact temps. I just shoot for 149-150, and err to the low side, because I prefer dry.

Annual toasting of the bines in progress.

But if the soil is sandy or coarse it can't hold much water. If you can add some dry powdered up clay(so you can spread it evenly), and some humus (dead vegetative matter), than you add capacity to hold water, regardless of experts may tell you, it's win-win when growing anything. Last year...

Ever just wanted to drink the wort?

    I taste every brew post-boil.

Annual toasting of the bines in progress.

Amend the soil to hold more moisture, and maybe use mulch to hold in the moisture. It can't hurt...

Any Interest In 2nd Annual Michigan Predators' Brewday?

Yeah, whatever. Hey, she's pretty cool; send her so you can get that work done. neovox, you have a PM. HotBreakHotel, you have a PM. Best things are some kinda meat to put on the grill, but even munchies or a salad that is beer compatible work. I'll make another pot of chili from...

Why convert freezers & not just buy refrigerators?

A chest freezer is the preferred vehicle for fermenting chambers, multi-tap kegerators, lagering, etc., but there is the "Run whatcha brung" situation, too, where there's the "how you should do it, and how you're gonna do it, because you've already got it".

Any Interest In 2nd Annual Michigan Predators' Brewday?

Well, OK, yeah, the 18th then. Bring some munchies or some kind of meat, or bowl of salad or smoke something and bring some of your beer to share. Doesn't matter if you brew or not, but check your gear list twice as I may not have what you need. If anyone needs directions, tell me and...

    Mariss Otter?

I am not sure what you mean. I have always known that in America, and I assumed Canada was no different, that a higher L base malt from standard kilned 2-row malt, was known as pale malt, and I have not seen before nor do I see now, what you mean by separate listings-one is around 2.0L and the...

    Mariss Otter?

Just found this question. Swallowing the grain or anything you are attempting to taste compare (think wines or pro tasters), you'll find that spitting out the target is better for getting it off your palate, before trying a new target. You will still have this on your breath and in your...
