    Keg Transfer Math Question

Ive drained for decades from my fermenter down into my keg. As long as the fermenter is higher than the keg it will drain. The lower the level the slower the flow, but it will empty. OH, as far as keg purging with co2, if you really want to purge most of the o2, connect the inflow to the...

iSpindel: What is the Simplest Way to Make it Work?

I only have one, and ubidots kept locking me up when I tried to set up the one and wanted 3 settings. OP looks like he had issues he couldn't resolve. Yep, it is pretty easy to draw a sample to check, but I'm just as interested in temperature as I ferment in either my basement or garage...

Anvil Foundry 240V with NEMA 6-30

Then how does 240v get away with roughly half the wire size? Each hot is 180 out of phase and loops through the third wire. You have a two wires for 120v the hot and the neutral. ignore ground, it is for safety only. 240 has two hot wires and one neutral shared by both. But yes, my initial...

Can I boil down my mash/ wort to make extract

Just brew more often and drink more ;) I have use 2 year old malt (I had 2 years, no real idea how old it was when I got it) There is a difference. I kept in sealed plastic bins. but the malt does age. I would plan on 1 year volume if at all possible. I know I've 2 bags and it will be...

Anvil Foundry 240V with NEMA 6-30

You can actually use 14 gauge up to a 50 ft run. 10 is way overkill for 15amps which the anvils don't get to. Way easier to work with and actually find an extension cord to adapt. You have to realize that 120v has the whole amperage going through one wire, 240 uses 2.

iSpindel: What is the Simplest Way to Make it Work?

In my playing with one before brewing with it, I actually connected to ubidots, grainfather app, (had to get right settings from main web page) and then brewspy. ubidots is limited by great degree unless you want to pay way more than what it is worth for on or two ispindel. Brewspy works well...

Can I boil down my mash/ wort to make extract

It would cost way more to do it that way. If you make starters for your yeast, I'd do a batch for that.

Coming back from 8 years hiatus

I brewed in the early 1980s to mid 1990s. occasionally till we moved into the 2000s. Brewed one batch in the 10s, and it was close to 5 years between last two. Bought new electric anvil last fall. So much easier and more efficient than with my 3 burner propane setup. Hate I waited so long...

Power cord with inline 240V GFI protection

While this is an option, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, YOU SHOULD NEVER MIX 120V AND 240V PLUGS AND OUTLETS. If you are going to make up Frankenstein, PLEASE buy one more 240v plug and put it on the current extension cord. If you want to convert back to 120v brewing, another...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I've just got one that was built by the member here in the classified listings. Testing it inside my Anvi stainless steel fermenter, it reports great. No issues. My wifi is decent not super, but absolutely issues.

    Any (US) Electricians Here?

Sub panels USUALLY don't have buss and groundseparate, and gfci does work without a 4th wire. You NEVER have a 4th wire to a gfci. Put in new panel, use same wire that is the right size and go for it. Way too much worry about insulation and old wire overhead.

    Grainfather and added equipment

I've just gotten an ispindel and had trouble getting it to communicate with grainfather app. The instructions inside the app have the WRONG server info. Correct as of today location is /iot/neap-pees/ispindel and is inside instructions on the main WEB page.

No 1.004 readings, looks good, but temps have all read in C, (23.4 degrees for instance) and gravity is moving about fine, so the unit is working fine
