Okay, stop hounding me, I'll enter it...

I'll second the NHC. You get great judging results and it is by far the most professionally run competition I've ever entered. That and its cool winning a medal from the NHC... talk about a heavy duty piece of gear!

    what kind of co2

Food grade is pure CO2 (filtered, etc.), industrial can contain some oils or impurities. I don't think it really matters which one you use; it should not affect the quality of the beer or your health. I get mine filled where it is cheapest (currently a fire extinguisher company). FWIW - Most CO2...

    Co2 tank

You might be able to get it filled at a welding shop, but most "corporate" style gas companies that swap tanks won't touch it.

    strir plate/magnet ?.....

Put two magnets on the outer part of the hub across from each other. Make sure you have them with a polar opposite orientation when you glue them down. I used JB Weld with good results (use a toothpick cut to length to keep them spread apart while the JB Weld dries, remove toothpick once dry)...

    Any deals?

I'd offer them to you if you were closer, but shipping would kill the deal (by the time shipping was thrown in, you could get a new one cheaper, plus the chance of breakage). Sorry.

    Any deals?

Where are you located at? If you are close by, I have some that I would like to get rid of.

    Sanyo 4433 keggerator?

It has a full width freezer across the top. Might cause height restrictions for the kegs and possibly freeze the beer lines if you run them through the top to a tower.

    3 gallon cornies at AHBS

I have two of the older 3 gallon kegs that I picked up years ago; but I really like the 2.5 gallon kegs better. Regardless, I like having the small ones around for camping...

    Horizontal keg

Oh, I did that once when I first started kegging... came home one afternoon to find several gallons of my espresso stout all over my kitchen floor. Make sure your kegs have good o-rings and do not leak.

    3 gallon cornies at AHBS

For what it's worth, Williams sells brand new 2.5 gallon Italian made kegs for $86.90. I bought two of them - excellent quality. I would rather pay $7 more for brand new.

    Used CO2 Tanks?

Thanks for the response. I didn't see those when I did a search; all the ones I saw were either of questionable quality/origin, or the shipping killed the deal. Of course I'm not a big fan of their search function - never seem to get exactly what I want. Would you happen to have a link? Thanks.

    Used CO2 Tanks?

Anyone have any suggestions on where I can find a good deal on a couple of used 20 LB. CO2 tanks? I need to obtain a couple more, but do not want to drop $100 on a new one because it will just be exchanged at the local gas distributor. I've looked at several of the local (Denver) businesses...

    Brewing cost

RichBrewer, where are you getting your bulk grain at? What part of Colorado are you in?

    Grain Life Span

I just found 6 lbs of Crystal 60 and 8 lbs of Carastan, all packaged in various amounts (.5lbs - 2 lbs) in FoodSaver (vacuum still tight) bags. Original purchase date was March of '03. Since oxidation should not be a problem, and the grain was stored in a cool basement, I should be ok with using...

    Propylene Glycol?

Propylene glycol is used as a solvent in flavorings/extracts (similar to alcohol, but cheaper). You can find good quality chocolate extract at Williams-Sonoma. If I recall, it is about $12 for a bottle, but it lasts a long time. It is what I used in my chocolate stout.

    Favorite online suppliers?

Forget Morebeer. I was a customer, but now their customer service stinks - they don't respond to questions. Pretty much means they don't want my business. Austin is good; ordered from them and received it quickly. Just placed a large equipment order from Williams; so far they seem pretty...

    Possible Glycol Chiller?

The beer tower would be the easy part; either create a coil with copper tubing, or run the vinyl tubing (obviously not as good a conductor as copper). This idea would be used if kegs were stored in a walk-in cooler behind the bar. For the fermenters, I would probably consider something...

    Possible Glycol Chiller?

So I have been thinking about ways to chill my beer towers and conical fermenters. While I noticed all of the DIY projects on the board, I could not find anything related to aquarium chillers. Anyone ever use or heard of their use with brewing? Here are some examples. Instead of saltwater...
