Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

That pot would do, but this Bayou Classic 16 gallon kettle was as low as $124.41 on Monday. It's ideal for relatively low cost BIAB, but is back up to $229, so you may want to keep an eye on it. I have no clue what Amazon's pricing logic is. The A/C power may be the correct 20A outlet, but...

    Possible problems with BIAB mash??

Even with a high quality voile bag, you'll almost certainly get more trub than with a typical 3V system with vorlauf. I have never recirculated during mash, but in essence you're eliminating the vorlauf with BIAB, hence more trub. Obviously, the finer crush contributes as well. I usually...

    Starsan Caps $uck!

As someone said earlier, the child-proof caps must be a relatively new introduction. I have had a 32oz bottle for a few years, and both caps have been broken for quite a while. I also have an 8 oz bottle I got in Feb this year that Starsan donated as prizes for our club's competition, and it...

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Sounds like it makes sense to get the 3500W Avantco. The hot rod looks like an awesome future option. I'll stick with my 1000W bucket water heater for now (which I got for $30 a year ago). I'll PM you to see if there's something that works.

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

I just bought a 20gal Spike Brewing kettle and am ready to move indoors. I BIAB, so I full volume mash and may need to boil as much as ~16 gallons. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a 5000W unit, but they seem to be at least several hundreds more, even via Alibaba. I had been planning to...

    Concord Kettle... which eBay seller?

I posted earlier in this thread that I have been very happy with the quality of my higher-end heavy duty 20 gal Concorde kettle, which I paid $160 for. Well, I took the plunge for a bargain cave Spike kettle that I found through this thread. The Concorde pot is well-made, but it's just a stock...

New part being added..AND CHEAP! KEG dry hopping mesh tube thing-a-ma-jig....

Just received mine in Atlanta. Looks pretty nice, and well-packaged as already described. I'll be trying it out with some whole Citra in a day or two.

Spike Brewing Bargain Cave Updated! Save up to $125!

Sent you an email via your website about one of the bargain cave kettles. And thanks for the quick response. Went for the $220 2-port 20 gallon pot. Just couldn't pass up such an opportunity to upgrade.

    Concord Kettle... which eBay seller?

I own the equivalent 80 qt pot sold here, which I paid $160 for in Jan 2014. It's definitely a step above the budget pots Concord sells most of and what have been discussed in detail here. It's a beast (probably heavier than necessary) and appears to be excellent quality stainless with the...

    BIAB Crush Opinions Needed

Stir your mash well a few times, and that will do more for your efficiency than anything else. I just got a pH meter recently, and just confirmed that my mineral adjustments using Brun Water are pretty accurate. So even w/o a meter, make your water adjustments for proper mash pH and beer...

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

Ramblin' Wreck BEE/MSEE. Yeah, the techno-geek process stuff is a piece of cake. Always working on that artistic creativity that doesn't come so naturally.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Is there a way to copy the file via the web interface, perhaps just by using Putty? I don't want to pull the card from the Pi to read while I have an active fermentation. Also, my display shows the last week or so of temperatures. I'm assuming that a new log is created when I hit 'Apply'...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I bought these ~3 months ago. The 2 I have used work great, but I haven't tested the other 3. Granted, they're only 2M, but seem to do the trick.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I seriously doubt that. I'm an electrical engineer who has worked on 1-wire interfaces, and the pull-up impedance isn't that critical, Its only impact is on the rise time, and this is a slow interface.

    Need replacement SSR and advice

I'll assume your element is no more than 5500W/220V; therefore, full load is only 25A. So you should be fine with an overrated 50A cable and 40A SSR. The problem is almost certainly improper heatsinking, especially if it was really just caulked. Sorry, but I can't recommend a reliable ssr...

Firestone Walker Wookey Jack Clone Attempt

Brewed this today on National Homebrew Day. Made quite a few minor changes because of ingredient availability, but I'm still expecting an awesome brew. One thing I noticed is that all the colors were listed as SRM, but it looks like these should have actually been °L. That may explain the...
