I will NOT squeal like a pig.

    Some Damned fine nonsensical lately..

    Ok, I'll start.

    contamination.

You're probably fine. No point dumping it, might as well see how it turns out. People top up with straight tap water without getting infections. I wouldn't be worried at all.

    That just sucks!!

I know it won't hurt, just a joke. Wait, who said anything about eating turds? I feel like I'm in Happy Gilmore right now. "You eat pieces of s*** for breakfast?!"

    That just sucks!!

But if you usually make bread or dog treats with your spent grain, maybe skip this batch.

    Sporting events: Chant or sing?

I'm a rugby guy and was lucky enough to see a match between Wales and Scotland in Cardiff. The Welsh sing throughout the entire game to lift the team. Singing is a big part of being Welsh. A former player had a son eligible to play for either Wales or England, and he said "I always knew he'd...

My son peed in his ear

I've got two boys and someone once gave us a gift of peepee teepees. Look them up on amazon. We never really used them but they are funny.

    mold advice question

I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably just some blowoff that got moldy. I had that happen recently, the beer was unaffected.

My son peed in his ear

Ok, I'll bite. What strange entities have you found in people's ears? And congrats on the twins.

    Vets

That's funny. I never heard that one. We just called everyone else POGs (like the band The Pogues). People Other than Grunts.

    Vets

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

    Vets

I'm pretty sure the "oxygen wasters" comment was just a joke.

    Vets

Maybe on a technical level. True, no one has ever asked me to break down a 240b in a job interview. But I think it prepares you for other things. Most people don't have the opportunity to lead others at such a young age, have to maintain and account for the massive amounts of equipment, have...

    Vets

I'm an Army vet, spent time in Afghanistan. Have to agree with Yooper on this one. I volunteered to do it, loved (almost) every minute of it, and still have pangs of regret for getting out. The Army was very good to me and I only have a couple of scars and near death experiences to complain...

    Going to Germany

Another vote for Regensburg. I was stationed about 20 minutes from there for four years and its my absolute favorite city in Germany. Also be on the lookout for fests as you pass through some of the smaller towns. The beer will be local and it's always a good time.

Warning to homebrewers who cut their own hair.

I just recently stopped cutting my own hair after about ten years. Never once did I get drunk and have the urge to give myself a haircut. But thanks for putting the idea in my head, now i'll probably do it this weekend.

    Splitting 10 gallon batches

Just did this, inspired by the last issue of zymurgy. Got a batch split with half on maple, half on Hungarian oak.

    Beer Value

I would think some of the Jester King beers might be worth a look. Very limited distribution and mostly only found in 750 ml bottles. Since you're in Austin you should take a tour if you haven't already. $10 gets you a glass and about 10 samples.

Ever had a peanut butter and bacon sandwich?

Tomato sandwich. Nothing but tomato, white bread, mayo, salt and pepper. That's what home tastes like to me.
