First Brew - Should I worry / bottle early?

    What are these glasses?

Nice set of glasses. Look pretty accurate to me.

    How does my beer look?

Good bucket. Used by lots of people. I prefer a Glass Carboy because I like to watch fermentation without having to risk compromising the brew by opening the bucket. That's just me though. Plenty of debate threads on HBT about bucket vs carboy vs better bottle. I won't go there. Any are good and...

    How does my beer look?

Nah. As long as you didn't hock a loogey into the beer it will be just fine. Yeast are actively producing alcohol so at this point it will be harder and harder for any other bugs to win the war. :) Now just be patient and let her sit for another 11 days or so and then start your final gravity...

How seriously do you take homebrewing?

Well I am in the honeymoon phase of brewing so every brew day is fun. I have been enjoying creating my own pipeline and the camaraderie I have with my friend on brew day. Maybe just brew something simple and quaffable and stop worrying about all the style stuff for a time or two?

    Very First Batch

First off, Welcome to the obsession. Rule #1 - Patience Rule #2 - See rule #1 It can take 24-72 hours to "See" active fermentation. Your yeast are in a lag phase right now (Like a big sex party and reproducing feverishly). Once they multiply a few times they start consuming sugar at high...

    First attempt, brewcraftusa kit question

Congrats getting this brew under your belt. Now be patient and don't go messing with it after the airlock stops bubbling. Give at least two weeks before testing the gravity. You will want to go pick up something to float that hydrometer in and a turkey baster makes a nice thief at a cheap price...

Another Islander here. I'm out in Yaphank. I have 30 gallons under my belt and I am tinkering with BIAB all grain brews which are working out nicely. Cheers to us islanders. :tank:

    Homebrewing popularity fading?

    Excellent point!

    Homebrewing popularity fading?

It seemed like a natural tie in. I would think that craft beer influence on homebrewing has a couple of effects. exposes more people to different beer styles gets people interested in where all of this type of beer is coming from exposes them to festivals which are attended by brewers and...
