    Single Tier Unistrut Build

Received some hose, along with some barb fittings for the hoses. Also some more ball valves, and some other fittings. Probably a couple weeks out from starting the build, due to my buddy's upcoming move. I guess we'll continue to pile up the parts, in the meantime.

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

I think at this point, we're pretty well committed to the HERMS. Maybe it would be a better design to eliminate the burner under the MT, especially since I would prefer not to direct fire the mash. My main goal is to get consistent temp control throughout the mash, and I worry about heat loss...

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

More hardware received for the kettles. Just ordered most of the remaining kettle and hose needs (Amazon/MoreBeer). Many thanks to Kal and their itemized material list (w/links). That has made designing and ordering parts, much less of a hassle.

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

    (2) PIDs came today. Eventually gonna need time to start building something. Going to a Brisket smoking boot camp this weekend though, can't wait!

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

More boxes today, a couple random fittings for the HLT, and two thermocouples for the Honeywell assemblies.

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

Received (2) Honeywell valves with pilots (pexsupply.com) today. Many more items on their way.

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

I wasn't thinking it would be much of an issue. With our RTDs being installed on Ts, off the bottom valves, of the HLT and MT, my thought was to just be sure that we're able to maintain mash temp good. I'm assuming for some heat loss with all the recirculating. I figure if we fired each burner...

    Single Tier Unistrut Build

After researching many ideas, and finally getting a partner in crime, I've opted to hold of on the electric brewery for now, and settle with building a propane rig. We're in the beginning process of designing and ordering parts/materials, and I'll try to post details and photos of our...

What came in the mail for you today?

Just got home to (3) 20 gallon Bayou kettles (Amazon), and a pack of O-Rings (McMaster-Carr, boy are they fast!). The first of many deliveries to come. Let the Brutus build begin. (Ill try to document the progress in a new thread)

    Pellicle Photo Collection

Sounds like a plan to me, I'll see if I can pick up a batch of Brett, this week. Do you think I'd need any oak to help the Brett along? I doubt I'd really want to impart any oak flavor to a strawberry, sour or not. I'd prefer to keep the yeasties happy, though.

    Pellicle Photo Collection

Found I had an infected batch, when I went to keg my Strawberry Wheat. Looks like I'll ride it out for a while, and see how it works as a sour.

    Post your infection

Went to keg a Strawberry Wheat today, and found my first infected batch. We'll see how it works as a sour.

    Looks Like My First Infection

I'll probably give it at least a few more weeks in the bucket, then give it a taste to see what the flavors are like. I may just buy a pack of Roeselare and rack onto that. I've used that on my other sours and am very happy with the results.

    Looks Like My First Infection

I had a Strawberry Wheat that I went to keg today, and after I opened up the lid, I found a nice friendly pellicle on my beer. I hadn't planned on this, of course, but I'm also not opposed to sour beers. I put the lid back on, and figured I'd post it up here for any suggestions. My first...

    Anyone listen to Clutch?!

I think this is some of the best they've put out in a while. My "go to", for the past couple years has been Robot Hive: Exodus, and Beale Street has a bunch of great songs, also. I was a little disappointed in Strange Cousins, but Earth Rocker....wow! The music is solid, and the more I listen...

Something that has been covered to death

Lighten up, Francis. In no way was I claiming to be writing a "How-to", textbook process for homebrewing. The OP seemed to be questioning the process and importance of sanitizing bottle caps. Many others, including yourself, are stressing the importance of strict sanitation practices, which I...

Something that has been covered to death

Right or wrong, I personally never sanitized a single bottle cap. I bottled for about the first year or so, with no infection issues. While I fully sanitized my bottles, and all the other gear, I never did the caps. Just lucky, I dunno. I never noticed a problem, so I never felt the need to...

Where do you dump your trub?

I dump right in my driveway. I have a pretty good incline sloping down to the road, and there is a storm drain in the road directly across the street. I use hop bags in my boil, so I just throw those away before I dump. I figure I do a good bit of cleanup afterwards, so it rinses pretty well...

All Group Buy Participants - NCM Price Change

SHHHHHHHH! They're probably here now, watching us! :drunk: But for real, I enjoy seeing so many getting involved in brainstorming a resolution for us. I don't have any more to offer than what has previously been mentioned, but I'm all for participating with whatever option is best. THANKS...
