    High O.G?

What can I do to see if it is fermenting? take a early reading maybe.. Just don't want to have a $50 bucket of wort. I read the ingredients list for the kit again, and it was only supposed to have the one pack of sachet.

    High O.G?

so far I have no air lock activity. I have heard of bad seals causing this. It is only the second batch with this bucket/fermenter. Anything I should do? I mainly want to make sure that I don't have any issues with my yeast.

    High O.G?

I can't remember what my hydrometer was calibrated to. I only topped off about a quart. And mixed it really well. I'm guessing it is just a calibration issue.

Mine is 1.088 at 70F. based on online temperature conversions( because I lost the one that came with my hydrometer it puts me closer to 1.091? That seems way to high. Any advice for me? or...

Ok, followed the recipe. Monday was two weeks in the bottle at 72F. Three weeks in the primary before that. Put the beer in the fridge on Monday chilled for at least 48 hours before I tried one.

    head/carbination question.

So I finally tried my first bottle of my first batch last night. Caribou Slobber brown ale from NB. It didn't really have any head, and the carbination seemed low. I used Palmers sugar calc. And dropped from the included 5oz to 4 oz of priming sugar because I didn't want to over carb. Never...

I have read about people using filters when they transfer to the bottling bucket. Waste of time, or worth trying?

    First batch halfway done.

just took my first FG reading. it was 2.003 at 70*F. My OG was right on target at 1.052. My kit doesn't give me a target FG to hit. How does it sound so far? Again it was the brown ale caribou slobber from NB. Thanks for everyone's help. Tastes fine so far. Not really good or bad. Going to taste...
