New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Oh man, that stinks. The thing that concerned me the most about COVID was exactly that. Losing taste and smell for an extended period of time. I have a buddy who lost his smell and taste for almost a whole year before it finally came back.

That could very well be it. I have a had a few cans from Other Half that were really good. I was excited when visited the brewery in DC while on a trip there in September. The NEIPAs were good but nothing more than some of the local breweries near me. For all of the Other Half hype I've heard...

I had some Double Dry Hopped All Citra Everything by them last April that I think may have caused me to start questioning Citra. It’s possible it could have been an issue with that specific batch though

I always want to try new beers but I don't think I can get my hands King Sue. I'm in South Florida. There's a few great local breweries down here but I don't know how well known they are nationally. None of them, however, really make single hopped beers.

I figure it's more the beers that I've had that feature Citra have been mediocre beers more so than Citra itself being mediocre, but I can't tell. I know I have had great beers with Citra in them, but I can't recall an all Citra beer that I've had that is great.

Great price but I've been thinking about Citra lately. Is Citra overrated or have I just recently had mediocre beers that have had Citra in it?

How did these end up turning out? Which one did you prefer? I’m really curious as I was thinking of doing CTZ and Idaho 7 on the hot side with Galaxy and Necatron on the cold side.

American Wheat Beer Hazy Cheapskate - Miraculix forbidden Ale

Bravo! Looks and sounds delicious. Sabro is one of my favorite hops. It has a nice bright, fruity, hoppiness to it that is really enjoyable.

Also, what does your grain bill look like to get that brilliant orange color?

What does your step mashing look like for NEIPAs?

Corny Keg Corny 5G Cooler Giveaway

I usually invite friends and family over to share it and a bite to eat. Or I’ll bottle it and bring it to a friends place.

I’ll have to check them out. The other main thing regarding liquid yeast is the price relative to dry yeast. I do not have a stir plate or flasks which will run probably $75-ish as a “startup” cost.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I live in South Florida so getting liquid yeast is difficult for me as well as any ice pack shipped with the yeast will long since have melted 2+ days ago by the time it arrives 4+ days after I order it. I also don't want to pay $30 for overnight shipping. Juice and 1318 are generally the same...

Do you know what Coastal Haze is? Is it a unique strain or a cross-strain ala Imperial's A24? My local homebrew doesn't have a lot of yeasts so I usually go dry yeast for a cost-saving and convenience factor. Also, British Ale V is 95%+ the same as Verdant. Why go for it when you've tried Verdant?

Great idea, I’ll do that. Thanks for the advice. Cheers!

    Sabro SMaSH Malt Recommendations

If it were me? Golden Promise but only because that’s what I have on hand. You really can’t go wrong with any of the above options.

Thanks my man. I’ll adjust the recipe and try that on the next go round.

I usually do a 30 min boil on the few neipas I’ve done so the 30 min addition is the bittering addition. I usually aim for 20-30 ibus of bittering addition. In your opinion, would you recommend replacing the 30 min with magnum or switching to 60 min or just ditching the bittering all together?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks. I’m very happy with the way it looks and smells. It’s just the taste isn’t quite there. I figured it might just need more time. What would you suggest as a bittering hop instead of warrior?
