    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Fermenting away, running a little hotter than normal for S-05 at 74 though! Guess I have to turn up the A/C.

    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Well, I guess my attempt will be a little more session-able than expected. That may not be a bad thing for the mother in law. I used this BYO article to calculate the gravity points from the berries: https://byo.com/bock/item/319-brewing-with-fruit-techniques I'll post a pic when it's ready!

    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Thanks for posting this recipe! I wanted to give this a shot for my mother in law's birthday...and I happen to be a strawberry blonde myself. I made a few modifications based on what I had available: 8 lb 2-row pale malt 1 lb white wheat malt 1 lb 10L caramel malt 1 lb flaked corn 1...

    Westy's CO2 Refills in Mechanicsburg

I have an update in my search for cheaper fills. Kint corporation off of Crooked Hill Rd. in Harrisburg (across the street from post office) will fill or swap. You can get a fill while you wait on the days that they have the equipment running. For new customers bringing tanks, you will have...

Tips and Tricks to Surviving A Beer Festival

Thanks for the article! One thing I would add for the outdoor beer fests: wear sunblock. Apparently, "alcohol drinkers have increased episodes of sunburn and a higher prevalence of skin cancer" according to this study.

To Keg or Not to Keg

I've only been home brewing solo for just about 3 months now, but I jumped right to kegging immediately. I started with the 2 faucet basic homebrew kit from Keg Connection, using picnic taps. Without the 5# CO2 tank, and adding a few upgrades including two ball lock kegs during on sale, the...

Goose Island Nut Brown Ale Clone

My brother-in-law was always a fan of the Goose Island Nut Brown Ale and for the last few years my wife diligently searched store shelves on his birthday, not realizing that the brewery discontinued it before being bought out by AB. So I found this recipe posted by "Scott" on Brewtoad that I'm...

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

It does taste great! With BIAB, I gradually pull out the bag to allow self draining and then when it is finally out of the wort I squeeze the crap out of it until it is dry and then sit in a bucket in case liquid remains. I don't do any sparging of the bag itself after I squeeze it...

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

As a followup to my earlier post, I ended up dry hopping early, after about 9 days of primary. I dry hopped 5 days before transferring to keg. I was a little high on final gravity (1.018) but it had not changed for about a week. I think this was due to my poor efficiency with my BIAB...

    Westy's CO2 Refills in Mechanicsburg

I thought this might be helpful to anyone looking for CO2 refills in the Harrisburg, PA area. Westy's Beer Distributor will fill or exchange CO2 tanks. For my 5 lb tank, I had to allow them several hours to chill the tank before I could pick it up. Fill was $18 as of 3/2016.

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

Thanks for the recipe! I brewed a 5 gallon batch of this using BIAB about 8 days ago. This is only my second brew on my own (had some help from a good mentor). Fermentation at approx. 66 degrees F took about 4 days using S-05. Original gravity was 1.050. I just took a gravity reading...

    New PA Brewer

Hello! I'm just starting the hobby out of Mechanicsburg, PA. I'm jumping into all-grain BIAB until I can piece together a mash tun. Brewed my first beer this past weekend (Traditional Bock) and got some helpful newbie tips from this forum and a good buddy of mine. Looking forward to...
