Morebeer 1550 - Using bigger kettles?

As long as it is the new style of 1550, you can use the 26 gallon kettles. You will have to buy or build the mash tun basket for the larger kettle. The older style of 1550, you cannot use the 26 gallon kettles without major fabrication.

Better Bottle Fermenters - 6 Gallon

I bought the bottles. I was wanting to buy new, compared to the NB pricing it was a decent deal. He explained his pricing and included pics. I made a lower offer and got them. They have shipped already. Not a bad experience so far. BTW I think the accessories for Better Bottle ARE overpriced...

    Consecration kit from MoreBeer

I'm getting a kit soon. I also scored some RR oak from Matt at NHC. Anyone's thoughts on throwing the oak into a small starter for a month or two, and then pitching the entire thing into the carboy? At least that would answer the question on whether the bugs are living if gravity goes down and...

    To all/any Melvico owners

Pretty sure it's brass. the gauge is like a secondary on a regulator, up to around 100. The first time I used my melvico, I just turned on the gas. It was set to 40psi. The bottle in the melvico held, but i was a little gun-shy. Not sure what bottles are rated at, but I'd suggest keeping it...

    To all/any Melvico owners

The plastic is threaded. When I got the melvico, it had nothing to seal the bottle so I trimmed a carboy bung down. You could use a dip tube, but the original just has a 1/4" tube that's basically pressure fit into the block. To turn off flow, I close the pressure release ball valve first, then...

It is plastic, a dense, heavy type. It serves the purpose well enough.

Ok, I'm a rookie at uploading pix, so the first photo is after I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled it. Second photo is the beer in line where the fill tube connects (I think there may have been a gasket at one point, won't know until I try to use it) 3rd photo is the regulator with two...
