if it doesn't rain it pours for me! Have bought a 5 gallon pressure barrel to store my cider, cleaned and sterilised it. When I tipped it up side down some water is leaking from the cap!! Do you think this could just be the O ring? As I'm taking this shouldn't happen with a pressure barrel...

Is it possible get an accurate alcohol reading from the hydrometer without taking an original reading? Or do I need a before and after reading to get this?

Wow I've not been on for a few months! I started my homemade Apelwein on 26th November 2010, and it's still sat in my understairs cupboard. I forgot all about it, and now not sure what to do with it? will it still be ok?

Well I added the yeast to some water in a cup mixed it up abit then put in the juice,

If im to buy my apple juice to make Apfelwein. Can it be from concentrated? some are 100% apple juice from concentrated im a bit lost on which to buy. Being from England it's harder to buy in bulk like 1 gallon tubs. thanks

Thanks again. I have campden tablets & Pectolase. With the campden tablets, do I need to mix with water before putting into the juice? or do they go in as a tablet form? Also can I add Pectolase at the same time? Sorry for all the questions im just a newbie and a little unsure. :o
