Is it safe to transport primary full of beer ready to bottle?

Dang. I didn't think this would turn into a HBT ideological dichotomy! At the end of the day, I decided not to transport. Reading all of this merely gave me a headache only curable by drinking more home brew.:drunk: Ultimately, I only read a couple posts before leaving my house. The brew in...

Star san ate threw my counter top!

Interesting. I haven't had any issues using Star San in my kitchen. I even spray down my counter tops with it while I am brewing. I have also gotten it on my hardwood floor and left it for an hour or so while brewing. Never any issues. I know the stuff can be pretty nasty in its undiluted form...

    Is it safe to bottle?

Moved it from the basement to bottle and when I opened the lid to rack all of the krausen was gone. Go figure. That little movement was enough to drop it.

Is it safe to transport primary full of beer ready to bottle?

I need to bottle a batch of brew, and I wanted to do this with a buddy of mine. He lives roughly 20 minutes away. Is it safe to drive my primary over for bottling? Any risks involved?

    Wort Chiller or Ice Bath?

I have found that with a 3 gallon boil, 12 pounds of ice gets me to 75 degrees. I start with about 10 lbs and put it directly in my primary when I pour in the wort and stir vigorously. I then add more until I hit my target temp. I top off with room temperature filtered water to 5 gallons and...

    Is it safe to bottle?

Oddly enough, no fermcap. Just kind of weird with the lingering krausen.

    Is it safe to bottle?

    10. It was definitely done fermenting. I have just never had krausen hang around so long.

    Is it safe to bottle?

Probably should have mentioned that. Same FG, which is why the presence of krausen boggled my mind.

    Is it safe to bottle?

A little over a week ago I hit FG on a Sam Adams clone. The only issue is there was still krausen on top. I decided to give it more time, but after a week it still has krausen. I really need to bottle this brew because I am in the middle of a move and I don't want to make the drive with my...

Want to trade for a dual faucet tower

I am not really sure. I am not super concerned with the size of the base, because I can cut a piece of metal to make one work if it is too small. I just was looking to get a dual tower so I don't have to drill in a hole for another faucet, as well as customize the base if that makes sense. I am...

Want to trade for a dual faucet tower

Any pictures I could borrow? I might end up having to go this way, unless I can find a good deal. Also, since it is collecting dust....care to sell it? :)

Want to trade for a dual faucet tower

My biggest concern is that the diameter of the base is too small for my kegerator. I have a Perlick and it requires a larger base than this one has. I would have to really customize everything it to make it work, and it would probably end up easier to just by a dual off of ebay or something.

Want to trade for a dual faucet tower

I am hoping there is someone out there that has a dual faucet tower they would be willing to part with. New or used, with or without faucets. I would be willing to trade a brand new single faucet tower. The model is Taprite, and the model # is D4740. It also has a Perlick faucet on it, but I am...

    Kegging my vanilla porter???

It's all personal preference. Captain Morgan is an interesting choice in my opinion. Shouldn't hurt the beer either. Not really sure if a few shots would make a noticeable difference either.

    Breakfast Stout

My last beer was a double chocolate oatmeal milk stout. When I racked to my bottling bucket it smelled like a super alcoholic tootsie roll. After a week in the bottle the smell is gone, and the beer is incredible. No hard alcohol flavors whatsoever.

FG woth Krausen? What the french toast?

Yeah, I just have yet to have a batch (save for this one) that had krausen when FG was achieved. Either way, I am gonna let this one sit for a little while longer. Plenty of home brew to drink while it does its thing. I just thought it was a little odd. I was more curious about the krausen, as...

FG woth Krausen? What the french toast?

I am brewing a Sam Adams clone, which requires a dry hop addition after fermentation slows/stops. I decided to take a gravity reading today and I noticed upon opening the lid I still have 1/2" thick krausen on top. I almost didn't take my gravity, but decided to anyhow. I took it 2 times and...
