My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

So in true ugly junk fashion I mounted the mill about an inch or two too low, so the auger / handle shift rests on the lower catch bucket. Still will work but will give a bit more resistance when turning. Short of remounting the mill (don't want to, as it'll leave open holes where I've already...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Sounds good, I'll give it a real test with grains on my next brew day. Your post made me think though... Maybe the slop in the rotating plate is intentional and tightening it up by moving the cotter pin or installing a bolt is fooling a brilliant engineering decision. ;)

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

My Victoria mill arrived today and I've been playing around with it, cleaned it up, testing to see how the adjustments work, etc. I don't have any grain at the moment but was testing by running a bit of popcorn through. Is it normal, or at least is it OK, that the moving crush plate doesn't...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

I'm standing in Home Depot about to grab a couple 5 gallon homer buckets for building my ugly junk once the mill arrives... But realized I don't actually know how big these mills are. Are the 5 gal homer buckets big enough for these mills to fit down into? Or are people using larger, maybe 6...

Am I Oxidizing My Beer With My Bottling Wand

I live in a small house, no room to permanently set up even a small fridge setup for fermenting. I bought a fermentation cooler from Cool Brewing, and it works great, quite stable temperatures (within 2-3F) seeing as I'm just managing it with varying amounts/sizes of frozen water bottles, and...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

OK. I don't have anything fancy shmancy like an air compressor, but I can probably get er done with some inverted banging. lol Main thing is, I'm not needing to actually wash it, good to know.

Those that have their mill mounted in/on a bucket (or other), do you take the mill out to clean it? Or is cleaning it actually a necessary thing?

A tale of first two BIABs. What do you use for bags?

Ya I'm hoping so. USPS tracking has been silent since Feb 10. >_<. Wilser advised to hang tight and hopefully it'll show up. Anyhoo, don't want to derail the topic. Grain bags, woohoo!

A tale of first two BIABs. What do you use for bags?

Hopefully the former. Don't fancy trying to deal with customer service of a juggernaut like USPS LOL.

A tale of first two BIABs. What do you use for bags?

It's threads like this that convinced me to give a wilserbrewer bag a try. I've had issues with both disposable paint strainer bags (don't fit the kettle properly) and a cheap, generic grain bag (seams opening up after a few batches), hoping that the wilserbrewer bag will make brew day more...

And yeah I've read enough to know not to fear the flour, especially for BIAB, which I do.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Oh yeah... That's a good point. Derp. Lol. I was thinking I'd be running grain through to test and tossing that grain away. Sometimes I question how my brain works. Hahahaha. Thanks.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

I finally gave up on finding a second hand cheap corona around here and so just today ended up ordering one off Amazon. Looking forward to setting it up (thinking I'll try the "bottomless bucket" design), getting the mill adjusted, and giving it a try. Have been having challenges with...

Am I Oxidizing My Beer With My Bottling Wand

Did anyone say "oxidation isn't real"? What I got out of the bulk of the posts that seem to be irritating you is "oxidation is a thing, but it's not anything to be worried about". The "don't need to worry about it" is a subjective opinion. Your "you can only make 'good beer', not 'great...

    Spruce beer

I was just talking today about a spruce tip recipe in, I think, the Joy Of Homebrewing book. I used to have an old edition of it and I'm sure it had the recipe there. I have never tried it but I want to,one day.

    First brew day

Sounds like your profile must be good then, as it seems you did hit your volume and you mentioned earlier you hit your gravity too. Sounds like a giant success to me!
