    Milling speed

I have this one from Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/drills-drivers/hammer-drills/12-in-75a-variable-speed-hammer-drill-62383.html. On sale, I got it for like $20, and it is plenty powerful. I use a highly modified Corona mill, with the grinding plates pushed together...

    Soldering Stainless steel

Nice! Very clean. I love how you've been able to add so much functionality without having to seek outside services.

    Brew Shed Build

Awesome! Great job. I have been dreaming of doing something like this for years, but I don't really have the space in my back yard for it. Do you have in-progress pictures of the construction?

Buckling in new stainless immersion chiller, normal?

I just got a response from NY Brew Supply: Good enough answer for me! By the way, their customer service was excellent and very fast. This is my second interaction with this company, and so far I would definitely recommend them. Thanks, everyone, for your feedback.

Maybe we should start petitioning companies to make one. Who would be the best choices? Making a custom induction cooktop is more hardcore electrical engineering than most of them usually engage in. By the way, I think you'd be fine to use your Adcraft with just a simple Inkbird ITC-308. You...

Buckling in new stainless immersion chiller, normal?

Ugh. I guess I need to call NY tomorrow and ask them if this is what their entire stock looks like. I wonder if I just got a bad one. Thanks for the info. Yeah I think I'd be fine with it, if this is the way they all are. I just don't want to get stuck with something that is a manufacturing...

Buckling in new stainless immersion chiller, normal?

Mine is the 3/8" version of that same one from NY Brew Supply. 50ft. https://www.nybrewsupply.com/collections/wort-chillers/products/3-8-x-50-stainless-steel-wort-chiller Does the smaller diameter have anything to do with it? I thought it was more difficult to bend larger tubing without kinking.

Buckling in new stainless immersion chiller, normal?

    Is yours stainless or copper?

Buckling in new stainless immersion chiller, normal?

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response, and for putting my mind at ease. I was worried I was going to have to ship this back.

Buckling in new stainless immersion chiller, normal?

Hi all, I just bought a new stainless steel immersion chiller, and while the bends on the coils look good, the sharper radius bends have some pretty noticeable buckling in the tubing. This is 3/8" OD stainless. Is this normal/expected with stainless? I've only used copper chillers in the past...

I stand corrected about my comments regarding voltage/current modulation. Clearly, I've never used an immersion heater..... :(

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

Damn... that's extremely hardcore. Definitely not something I am able to attempt at the moment, but maybe an aspirational goal for the future. Thanks for the tip! In the meantime, I'm going to quote something I said in Hwk-I-St8's other thread:

Okay, I'm not sure then. I'm having difficulty finding it now, but I distinctly remember seeing a video (probably on YouTube) of someone controlling a C208V in exactly the way you're describing. I think it was posted on here. That said, what you're trying to do should certainly be possible...

Keg diptube-thermowell conversion: seeking tips on soldering stainless steel

Hi all, I'm about to do my first stainless steel solder, and am seeking some advice. I'm very familiar with soldering electrical connections, but this will be my first plumbing application. I'm trying to seal up a corny keg liquid dip tube in order to use it as a thermowell for keg fermenting...

I'm reposting this from the other thread where we've been discussing induction plates (the Spike eBIAB one):

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

I've gone through a similar journey as you. I've been considering getting the C208V for years, as it seems like the best option for a fully controllable induction mashing system, but am always afraid to use it on 240v. I keep checking here every few months to see what the verdict is from those...

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

I don't have a link, but I can describe my system for you, and provide a picture. Firstly, I mostly do 3 gallon batches. I have a 10 gal custom Spike kettle with TC ports for the drain, thermowell, whirlpool, and a recirculation return. I use a Blichmann Riptide pump. I have a cheapy Duxtop...

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

Great! That's good news. I'm eager to see what that translates into for the 10gal version. Also eager to see your brew day video! Thanks for all the great content.
