    You decide my ingredients

Will do. I figure I might as well ask people opinions on proportions first. Here is what I was thinking: I get around 82% efficiency which would yield 6.5% ABV with this 8 lbs Maris Otter (Thomas Fawcett) 71.1% 1 lbs Chocolate (Briess) (350.0 SRM) 8.9% 1 lbs Crystal, Dark (Simpsons)...

    You decide my ingredients

I got stuck here with my gf's friends. Bored, I decided to hatch a plan. Throw out an ingredient and someone else will do another. I will brew whatever comes first for the categories below. You can go in any ingredient order but specify where you want me to add it. Only one submission per...

    St. Patty's Brew

Perfect day to brew. I'm in. I will brew an IPA. It will be a little different, I just don't know what I will do to it yet. I have been building up inventory to do an Imp. Stout, myself. I think I will do that after the IPA. I only have one spot in my fermentation kegerator and I have a ton of...

    Causes for no maltiness?

Same thing happens to me. I believe it can be a few things. Water chemistry, pH, mash temp, mash time will all affect the outcome. If you have a low chloride to sulfate ratio (like I do for IPAs) then there is definitely a lack of maltyness. I need to bring the ratio closer to .77 in order for...

First screw up... boy.. with pic

I took my one week old wort in a glass carboy out of the kegerater to shake up the yeast because it wasn't eating up the sugar anymore. I had a harness around it, that I thought was impenetrable. I was only holding it about 3 feet above my apartment floor when it slipped out of one of the...

    Introduction and two year plan

Hello everyone. I am new around here and am excited to find and start communicating with the brewing world. I started brewing in August, and since then (like many of you) I dream, think, live brewing. I sometimes lay awake at night thinking of how to improve my brewing process based on the...
