Has anyone tried a different glycol chiller with Grainfather fermenters?

Grainfather sends a simple 12v wall wort transformer with their fermenters, so the outputs are more than likely left floating. I don't remember the transformer having a ground prong. This would mean +12v and -12v, would it not?

Has anyone tried a different glycol chiller with Grainfather fermenters?

I have an icemaster 100 unit that I converted to work with a couple grainfather conicals. My setup is very similar to grainfathers offering in which the fermenters receive power and send their cooling signal to the glycol chiller through a single cable. The cables I use to make the connection...

    Brewbuilt IceMaster Max 4

I'm currently out of town at the moment, so I can't give you pics of my setup. I will snap some pics and post them when I return. My unit is setup similar to Grainfathers glycol chiller in how the chiller provides power and receives the signal for cooling from each fermenter via a single cable...

    Cold crash Unitank

You might find this thread/post helpful: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/carbonation-help.680106/post-8885395 With regards to your stone potentially being clogged, try increasing the pressure on your regulator and put your ear near the unitank. You should be able to hear the micro bubbles...

    Brewbuilt IceMaster Max 4

Wow, I guess the saying "third times a charm" doesn't hold true in this case. If you are mechanically inclined, the icemaster 100 version might be better for you. I specifically bought mine over SS Brewtechs offerings because of the ability to customize the units top plate. I ended up installing...

    Hop Dropper for SSB Unitank

I have a setup similar to K9tpr's. Mine differs in that I use a 3x12" SS spool (not pictured) instead of the sight glass. I also have my 3" TC to 2x 1/4npt cap configured with a combo pressure gauge, and a three way ball valve that has a 5/16" barb and a adjustable PRV. I also have a vacuum pump...

    Brewbuilt IceMaster Max 4

I have a similar unit (icemaster 100) that I purchased from morebeer nearly two years ago. It has been working well for me and did not have the damage that your pictures show. Your unit must have taken quite a blow considering the cast aluminum on the fan body is fractured. I would be concerned...

    Best mobile CO2 solution

I have a 9oz paintball cylinder that I use with a single gauge regulator that works very good. I already had the regulator, which I converted with this simple adapter: https://www.homebrewing.org/Paintball-Adapter-II-left-hand-thread-_p_2638.html If you don't have an extra regulator they sell...

Deciding what bottling process to go with

The beer must be fully carbonated in a keg prior to bottling. In fact, the beer should be over carbonated a bit to account for a little loss of carbonation that occurs during the filling process. The headspace left in the bottle will also cause a little loss of carbonation as the CO2 in and out...

Deciding what bottling process to go with

I wouldn't worry much about the O2 ingress you might get from a bottle cap vs a seamed can lid. There are more than likely many other areas of your current brewing process where larger amounts of O2 are unintentionally introduced. Any effort to minimize oxidation after the packaging has been...

    Carbonation Help!

Your method of using the carbonation stone is incorrect. Pushing CO2 at 30 psi with a low head pressure will cause a large amount of CO2 to be emitted from the stone in the form of large bubbles that race to the surface. The CO2 that does manage to get absorbed will have a tendency to get...

    Carbonation Help!

Did you carbonate using the Unitank's carbonation stone? What was your burst carbonation process?

    I want a bench capper

I have the professional version of the Grifo capper (Cast head with stainless base and tower) that I picked up on sale for $175 a couple years ago. I bottle all of my beer with a counter pressure filler, so the capper has seen quite a bit of use. A conservative estimate would be at least 1000...

    purging kegs

I was able to cut mine using a tubing cutter clamped in a vise, a plastic drywall screw anchor, and a correct sized screw. Simply place the anchor inside the dip tube and expand by threading in the screw. I used my vise to clamp the gas tube during this operation, but I am sure padded vise...

    Keg Lid Carbonation Stone

I use the carb stone keg lid that morebeer sells. It has worked well for me, but it did take some tinkering in order to achieve consistent results. The first thing I did was change out the plastic tubing that connects the barb on the lid to the barb for the stone. Mine arrived with deep...

CPBF disaster..Too much foam- does beer line length matter?

This post might help you out: Optimizing speed of counter pressure filling.

CPBF disaster..Too much foam- does beer line length matter?

What CPBF are you using? Are you using a single regulator setup with a gas tee, or a dual regulator setup?

Optimizing speed of counter pressure filling.

I realize this thread is four months old, but I have a solution for your slow filling problem. When I first started counter pressure bottling I too had to use extremely slow fill rates to not have every bottle erupting with foam every time I removed the filler from the bottle. I played with the...
