    Now, that's hilarious.

    Blow-off Tube Issue

Yes, I'm definitely going to do this going forward--lesson learned. Also, I had the fermentation in the low/mid 60s the whole time, so I'm not concerned about that. I'm just concerned about this current batch.

    Blow-off Tube Issue

No, it didn't bubble after I put it back in. I used S-04 and it went crazy for a few days, but the bubbling had stopped at least a few days ago. I've always used a 22oz bomber and haven't had any issues. I'm wondering if one of my kids went down there yesterday and pulled it out. Nonetheless...

    Blow-off Tube Issue

Hello, everyone. I brewed an APA about a week ago, and have had the end of the blow-off tube submerged in sanitized water the whole time. This morning, I went in to add some dry hops, and noticed that the tube fell out of the water. I looked at everything yesterday, and all was well, so I know...

    Variables

I have another example: letting the wort cool to 180 before adding hops, rather than immediately after the boil. Apparently, it's because the oils of the hops will do X, Y, and Z. Again, that's great, but how will that affect the output?

    Variables

Hello everyone. I've been looking for a good TG Pseudo Sue clone recipe, and it's really hard to track how slight variations in brewing, ingredients, etc. can affect the final output. Do you know of any good sources that have a somewhat concise list of things like: To increase IBU, do X. To...

    Growler Conditioning

FYI only - I used electrical tape to seal the lids, and we tried one of the growlers this week. It was delicious and perfectly carbed. I'm still not going to try it again (for safety reasons), but just wanted to let all you good folks know.

    Growler Conditioning

Thanks for all the insight. I’m never going to condition in a growler, regardless of the type, ever again. I’m merely looking to salvage what I’ve already done and/or avoid injuries.

    Growler Conditioning

FG = 1.011 I’ll wrap the lids with electrical tape and put them near the drain in my unfinished laundry room. Makes me nervous, though...

    Growler Conditioning

Hello everyone. I’m new to this, so please take it easy on me. About 3 weeks ago, I brewed a 5 gal batch of Hefeweizen and hit the OG (1.047) I was shooting for. Last night, I bottled (after adding 5oz of priming sugar) well over half into 22oz bottles. Without thinking much about it, I decided...

    Newbie--Fermentation/Conditioning Questions

From what I've read, for Pliny, specifically, the 12-day dry hop is what RR does. I'll give it a shot.

    Newbie--Fermentation/Conditioning Questions

What are the good yeast handling practices? I sanitized the Imperial bag and ripped it open as instructed. Also, I have little-to-no understanding of off flavors from yeast autolysis. My only understanding is if you don't ferment/condition long enough, it will taste green/yeasty.

    Newbie--Fermentation/Conditioning Questions

Thanks for the info. So, for my Pliny 12-day dry hop, I'm assuming I should just dry hop in the primary? Per John Palmer, " The best way to utilize dry hopping is to put the hops in a secondary fermenter, after the beer has been racked away from the trub and can sit a couple of weeks before...

    Newbie--Fermentation/Conditioning Questions

Hello everyone. I just bought a Grainfather and decided to jump right in with an all grain brew. I found a Pseudo Sue clone recipe on Grainfather's website, and felt that the entire process went smoothly. My OG (1.052) and FG (1.010) were almost exactly as expected. After chilling and...
