Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

90 min mash @ 149 1.089-1.018 I didn’t know if pitching a pack of Nottingham in the keg and letting it sit at room temp for a few months to age would get this down a few more points.

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

Hey guys looking for some input! I pitched a 3l starter and got this up to 81deg and she still didn’t finish down 1.010-1.012 like I hoped for. It’s been 22days in the conical and I was wandering if I should rack over to a keg pitches with a pack of Nottingham yeast hoping to get it down? Right...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

Thanks for the reply! I used 2lbs 10 oz ounces D-180 on the original and at a year old it stands up well when compared right next to Chimay Blue. I learned my lesson, don't keg this and put in the keezer right away. The keg version I have is still not ready compared to the bottle version. I...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

I know I’m late to the party but where did you see this? Seems like the CSI site still shows 2.5lbs of D-180.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I Have used it twice and I have found it’s finicky, I did a 4oz dry hop which has taken a month to mellow out, still not there yet. A buddy of mine used 4oz Motueka/Sabro in a Dry hop that Came out amazing.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Someone use 25oz of hops in a 5 gallon batch and report back! "When it comes to dry hopping, we’ve found leaving the hops in contact 8 or 9 days to be the sweet spot for most of our beers, but we’ve had great results with as few as 5 days. As for total hop loads, one of our most popular beers...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I ferment under pressure in a conical and this was the first time i used CO2 to rouse the hops. I'm wondering by not purging the air out before shooting the co2 up in the beer i shot some o2 in. .5 Amarillo FWH .3 Simcoe FWH .75 Amarillo @ 20 MIN .50 Simcoe @ 20 MIN 2.25 Amarillo WP @ 30MIN...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

You ever brew a beer and wonder wth happened? The color on this beer came out looking off and oxidized. Granted I’m Pretty hard on anything I brew. Been 17 days in the keg and just now starting to mellow out a tad. This is not my best NEIPA as this beer is quite pungent. I tried to get too fancy...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

After reading some comments in this thread and drinking a few beers last night I decided to throw in an extra 2oz of Idaho 7, on top of the 2oz already in there. That leaves me at 5oz Citra/ 4oz Idaho 7 in a 5gal batch. I report back on the dankness level. I seem to struggle with leaving the...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I'm going to play devils advocate here. I have gotten killer aroma with only 6oz dry hops, 2oz of those were in the keg. However this was an all Citra beer with 6oz WP and 6oz dry hop. Beer was amazing for two months start/finish. Granted Citra is known as one of the Banger hops at 13.3AA...

    Westvleteren 12

I did the same recipe using almost 3lbs of D-180. I have a glycol chiller and conical and went all out expecting a massive blow off with WLP530 yeast. Unfortunately this beer came out sublime at best. Maybe my process is flawed, but i really made sure to go out on this particular beer. I even...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I’m not dumping enough hops down the drain to justify reusing them. Maybe if I was a big brewery, then yea! Just my .02
