I'm curious about this too. I have a handful of these and I use some of my extra grolsch tops on them usually. I've not tried to re-use non removable seal tops for sanitation reasons.

I don't see the word "stir" anywhere. Did you stir in the extract? If not, the dme possibly clumped and never dissolved and the lme possibly burned on the button of the pot.

I just brewed an extract batch of this last week. I can't wait for it to be ready. Sadly it will be at least another month to condition, bottle, and carbonate/condition more.

It was a pot holder from the kitchen drawer and the wife does tend to wash anything that has even a hint of being dirty. The potholder did appear clean, though it was outside with my for an hour or more while I did my boil.
