Biere de Garde - Biere de Noel

I've also done the Rustic Saison out of that book which was very unique and tasty. Much different then a typical saison....many people in my homebrew club that don't necessarily like Saison's really liked the Rustic one with Spelt and French Strisselspalt hops...

Biere de Garde - Biere de Noel

I just wanted to chime in. I did a versthis of this recipe...basically straight from the book with the addition of dark brown sugar which was one of the recommeneded add-ons. It turned out really tasty and malty with lots of rum and dark fruit flavors along with nice malt, caramel and a little...

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

Sounds like a tasty beer. I need to try that Founders Red Rye. I think if you want it to be closer to Hop Head Red it definitely needs the Amarillo hops, and probably 1/2 lb of Special B or so.

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

Yo par383...did you brew this with Rye. Curious to hear how that turned out as I think it will add a really cool complexity. Let me know if and when you have an update. Cheers, Nick

Czech Premium Pale Lager Bohemian Pilsner (Silver Medalist)

Yeah man I will. Decoction is lagering. Infusion is in Diacytl rest right now and will get transfered to secondary in the next week or so and start lagering as well. I'll probably lager them for a couple month and then keg them both and finally do a blind tasting with some "beer nerd" friends...

Czech Premium Pale Lager Bohemian Pilsner (Silver Medalist)

I went with the Double step Infusion. I'll update the Decoction vs. Infusion tasting when they are ready in a couple months.

Czech Premium Pale Lager Bohemian Pilsner (Silver Medalist)

So, I brewed this with a decoction almost exactly as you did. I hit my numbers perfect. Now, I'm going to brew the exact same recipe with a Single infusion mash at 149-154 degrees. I'm wondering, what would be the best temperature to brew this to try and replicate it exactly. I want to be...

Brau Brothers Ring Neck Braun Ale

I have confirmed with the brewer at Brau Brothers that they do in fact use a somewhat large portion of Golden Naked Oats to get the Nutty/Raspberry flavor that is ever present in their Braun ale!

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

I think I'd probably stick to somewhere around 10-15% if you really want to taste it, but I've never used it. I know Denny's RyePA he uses something like 18% rye. For this recipe, just substitute some of the base malt for Rye. Cheers! Nick

Brau Brothers Ring Neck Braun Ale

Yo, did you brew this and how did it turn out? I'm trying to figure out how they get that raspberry flavor into this beer. Is it one of the dark grains, or is it from raspberry extract. It's quite unique.

Czech Premium Pale Lager Bohemian Pilsner (Silver Medalist)

Hey Nathan. I'm gonna try this recipe, or close to it, for my Abominable Snow Pilz. I use locally harvested snow from my front yard for naturally soft water. last year it turned out tasty, this year, with this recipe I think it'll be a bit more hoppy which is what I was gonna go for this...

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

Hey Man, You can check my blog at www.dankbrewingcompany.blogspot.com ***Keep in mind that my Hop Head Red Clone was something I started before ever even tryed it an actual GF Hop Head Red as I'm in Minnesota. Just thought it would be cool to try something similar and drink some Hoppy red...

Maybe not Special B...maybe just go with all Crystal 120 for the crystal portion

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

Yeah man. That's a good idea. I finally tasted one for real. i think that they definitely have some Special B in there too. Prune/dark fruit flavors are in there, and I think sub-ing some of the Crystal out for Special B would get you closer. I put an updated recipe on my blog (I haven't...

    Green Flash Hop Head Red?

I made this mid summer this year upon my brothers request. He lives in San Diego, and i live in Minneapolis. I'd never had it before. He said that my version was almost spot on, but that the real HHR has a thicker mouth feel. When I brew again, I'll be mashing a little bit higher at 156 to...

New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red cherry addition rate

I'm thinking about doing the New Glarus Belgian Red Clone that I've seen in Zymurgy...and I have about 2-3 lbs of whole North Star Cherries, and then was thinking about buying a quart of Montmorency fruit concentrate. That I quart of concentrate is said to have 25 lbs of cherries in it. What...

    roommate froze my rhizomes!

I live in Minneapolis and grow three varieties of hops. They are chillin in the ground throughout the whole winter. Some people dig up and break off rhizomes for other people and it's recommended I believe to put them in the freezer for long periods of storage. No worries. Put em in the...

Midwest supplies Surly Furious clone vs. There Hop Head IPA

I've brewed the Surly furious clone. It's not as bitter as the actual Surly Furious. The Aroma and taste are about the same. But if I was to do it again, I'd change the malt bill a little bit, and up the hops, maybe add another ounce of Warrior at 30 minutes. Maybe my hop utilization is...
