$150 jeans and taste in beer

Never even heard of Peroni . . . must be one 'uh them 'metrosexual' things. My jeans cost about $30 . . . my wife, on the other hand, has spent as much as $130 on one friggin' pair of jeans. I think Nordstrom's owes me a couple beers! (I can't complain too much though - homebrewing and fly...

Adding fruit to secondary, how to sanitize the fruit?

I have a Huckleberry Hefe in my secondary right now and I got a HUGE second krausen. The first time I made this beer I added the fruit to the primary and it worked great - I think I'll do that from now on. When I added the fruit to my 5 gal. secondary my airlock was full of crap within a...

According to the homepage of The American Donkey and Mule Society: "Mule: The hybrid animal produced when a male ass (Jack) is crossed with a female horse. The mule is a sterile hybrid, meaning it cannot reproduce. Mules come in both male and female. A tiny percentage of female mules have had...

Mules can't breed anyway dude, they're sterile. Okay, yes, there have been rare cases of female mules giving birth - but those are freak accidents. AHU

    More sampling....

Tried my last beer from my sampler last night. It was Mendocino Brewing Co. Eye of the Hawk Select Ale. It was good but nothing to write home about. The label said it wins lots of awards and is "a favorite at the Great British Beer Festival." So, again, probably a very good beer for its...

    Candy beers.

Well, it is a candy beer competition. Aren't most of the hard candies previously mentioned (red hots, jolly ranchers, etc.) pretty much 99% sugar? I think you can get horehound extract so maybe you could "fortify" the candy with some extract. AHU

    Candy beers.

How about Horehound Porter? That sounds pretty good . . . wouldn't know how much to use though. AHU

Whewee! Nice work Caplan. You'll be lovin' it when your 50 and she's only 36. I only got a couple years on my wife but her mom is 50 looking like 30 so good genes I hope.

She looks like the north end of a southbound dog . . . Here's a good warning for use by you mods (credited to my father): "Be careful boy, I'll slap you to sleep then slap you for sleepin'!! And one of the best sayings I ever heard, from an 87 year old friend who pulled over on a highway to...

the joys of 32 oz bottles....

I did that New Years with a 22 oz. of my strong ale. Punched myself in the balls for that one . . . t1 - LOL! Last time I had a mysterious lump on my head was when I attended a friends wedding in Wyoming last summer. I didn't even know where it came from for the longest time and then I...

    More sampling....

Last night I tried the Mad River Brewing Jamaica Red Ale. It was surprisingly great. It came in one of those World Market variety packs (like the one ORRELSE previously mentioned) that I got for Christmas and most of the other beers in the box have been pretty average so far. The Jamaica Red...

Recent movie thread...what have you seen?

I saw Crash - that was good. One of those where several things are going on at once and they all kinda get tied together at the end. I haven't seen one that I'll buy on DVD for quite a while. Star Wars III was the last DVD-worthy flick I've seen.

    Wow!

I definitely spend more time on this forum at work than I do at home. Sometimes I feel guilty about but then I remember how little they pay me and I don't feel so bad. :p I'm entitled, right?

How much of your beer intake is home brew?

Total beer consumption I'm probably only 30% homebrew. But that's mostly a reflection of the fact that do a lot of social drinking at bars, parties, clubs, meetings, etc. Maybe I'll be a bigshot brewer someday and my beer will be as ubiquitous as Coors so I can drink my own wherever I go...

Holy cow! We're in the presence of greatness! I can't believe Willie Nelson is a homebrewer! Homegrower I'd believe, but never would have guessed homebrewer. And he actually takes the time to talk to the little people on this forum. Thanks Willie! :D By the way, my mama didn't let me...

Another score for the home team.....

This beer is good but borders on being too sweet to me. I can only drink one or two before the apricot starts to overpower my tastebuds. One time in college we had a "fancy" party where we bought a couple pallets of that stuff. The chicks could drink it all night but after a few I had to run...

I'm 28 for the second year in a row. For some reason, I got confused last year and told people I was 28 years old all year. Then I had by birthday in December and when I told someone I would be 29 my wife had to correct me. I need an avatar . . .
