    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Sounds amazing! 👏 Only thing I'd skip next time is the salt, but honestly, I really doubt you'd notice. Good call on the celery seed, Chicagoan here and we loooove that $#!t.

    Life regrets

Souther Baptist / Pentecostal upbringing here, I know what you mean. There was some sex going on among those sick freaks but not the kind that anyone would ever acknowledge. Truly scary.

    Life regrets

I regret not enjoying some foods when I was young that I have to limit in middle age. I'm lookin' at you, ham and beans and cabbage and brussels sprouts. Basically all the stuff I hated as a kid. Really tears me a new one every time but honestly, so freaking worth the ass music.

    Life regrets

I regret never having run away to join the circus. Way back in the day my grandmother was a trapeze artist and her first husband was a clown; I'd like to think I could have combined the two into something truly magical.

Man, the Jensen Interceptor III sounds like the coolest BMX bike ever. I though I was cool with my Checker Pig!

Also would like to have learned that pizza master spinning the dough thing where they spin it around in the air so effortlessly. Those guys have all the friends. I'm like kneading cookie dough ffs.

    Life regrets

I'm pretty happy with my gig, happily married for 22+ years, at the top of my game professionally, rocking a 2 br townhouse rental, I'm living the a dream. Been thrown a few sliders, but whatevs, I'm content. Then I start to think about the things I didn't do... and start making a list...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Smoking a Hereford brand center-cut brisket today, 6lbs. I bought it at Woodman's, standard for them but a new brand to me, and google tells me they range from upper 2/3 choice to prime. Not sure where it puts my purchase at on the scale from choice to prime, but at $6.99/lb I'm hoping it leans...

Corking a bottle with a scissor jack

To anyone who is remotely interested in synthetic vs. natural corks, and wine closures in general, check out 'To Cork or Not To Cork' by George Taber. It's a quick, fun read with tons of insight into how this and other variables impact wine quality. I read a borrowed copy on a flight a dozen...

Corking a bottle with a scissor jack

I'm trying hard to think of a more elaborate way to lose a finger and welp, I'm just flummoxed. Bravo, one thumbs up.

show your age with a picture of a toy from your childhood

That has to be smallest piñata I've ever seen. How much candy could possibly be in there?

show your age with a picture of a toy from your childhood

My cousin had a toy like this but it was two airplanes. Never got my hands on one but I dreamt about that toy. Heck I'd still love to play with the damn thing. Edit: aw ****, it was a Vertibird!

show your age with a picture of a toy from your childhood

We had that toy. Until recently when someone would mention weeble-wobbles I thought about these guys. Never had a weeble or a wobble, idk. Side note, this parking garage configuration kinda reminds me of my office in the city. I'd park in one of the spots on the top deck and always felt like I...

    IKEA Dryck Lingon experiment

That's correct, the paper towel allows passive venting to prevent any pressure from building up inside the fermenter. Since this batch of wine was destined to be distilled, I wasn't concerned about infection, and because I wasn't going to let it sit very long, oxidation was also not an issue. I...

    The "Dear" , "Sincerely" thread

Dear "never again to be encouraged", I was a percussionist too! Mostly stomping a wooden box but I played the koto sometimes when the mood struck. Always wanted to try playing the fire buckets, but Eugene Hutz had cornered the market. Sincerely, The Golden Glockenspiel

    The "Dear" , "Sincerely" thread

Dear "I'll have what you're drinking", For a few glorious months in college I was in a screamo band, we called ourselves Herb Quackenbush. Herb wasn't a real person of course, more of a persona so to speak.... apparently of the non-grata persuasion. Sincerely, We never did manage to book a...

    35 years

We celebrated 21 years in August, our wedding was about 6 weeks before the attacks on 9/11. To me, memories from before those events, including our wedding, are somehow tinted a different shade than all of those since. Almost as if the rose-colored glasses were suddenly torn away and lost forever.
