    Through wall taps

This is important. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build. Sharkbite is pretty cool stuff eh? Especially handy when you're working on copper that's wet - can often be quite a bit easier than soldering. Anyway, good luck on the project and let me know if help testing out those taps...

2 most important things you learned/wish you knew

    1. You can learn a lot about brewing and beer by taking the time to fine-tune a recipe. It's fun to make lots of different stuff, but I think that spending the time to really dial-in a recipe over the course of several batches is a worthwhile endeavor for any brewer. 2. Simple recipes are great.

    What isn't needed

I don't know if this scenario would apply to very many people, but the control panel I built for my electric setup ended up not really being necessary. I use two 2000W 120V elements and when I built the panel my plan was to do a Brutus 20 2-Vessel recirculating mash. So for that I wanted the PID...

My heating element rusts and I don't care.

Bumping this because it deserves to be bumped. Cheers.

    Keg Exploded!

Glad you're alright man. I think it's good to remind each other once in awhile that some of these beer toys of ours have the potential to be dangerous. I dropped a CO2 tank the other day and it scared the $hi* out of me. No harm done (except to the tile it landed on), but it was a good...

    Another keezer build

How do you get the stir bar out of the starter?

I use a magnet from a hard drive to 'grab' the stir bar through the glass of my starter jug. Then you can easily decant, pitch, etc. It's the same kind of magnet I used to make my stir plate. Got them from a hard drive. Cheers and enjoy the brew. Edit: Damn, too slow.

    Van Morrison!

Big fan of Van Morrison. Check out the tune "Philosopher's Stone" off of the Back on Top album. Love that one. Cheers.

    HLT/MT cooler tips

Something a little bigger than 10gal, like the 52qt you mentioned, is also handy if you ever want to experiment with no-sparge mashes (for 5 gallon batches). That little bit of extra space over the more standard 10gal cooler gives you a little more flexibility in that regard. That said, I use a...

What is your favorite bittering hop for IPAs?

I use Warrior @ 60min for pretty much every beer I make - including IPAs. Cheers.

    Heatstick = awesome!

Another vote for the Hot Rod. I also own two. I love DIY as much as the next guy, but the quality of these units is amazing. I've never priced out a similar build, but I don't think a guy could DIY something of the same quality for less money. Not trying to tell you your business or anything...

Interview for a job at a brewery

Congratulations man. I used to live in Denver and have spent some time in Longmont. You're going to love it out there. Cheers and good luck with the new gig and the move.

Feud between my two local breweries

^ This combined with the fact that "#1" sound like fun to people to be around would be the deciding factors for me. Good luck with the collaboration, sounds fun. Cheers.

    Will my equipment be sufficient?

If you're only doing a 3-Gallon batch you won't need to sparge at all. I put in some quick calculations and with 12lbs of grain and 4.25gal pre-boil volume you only need 7gal of volume. So you'd be good with your 9gal pot if your numbers are similar. 5gal carboy is will be great for...
