    E Kettle build 2.0

Could you tell me the size of the dimple tool you used to solder this? I assume it was for the 1.5" ferrule? I'm thinking about doing the same. Looks like those element housings Bobby M sells are the way to go. Thanks!

Did you silver solder the ferrule yourself?

    HERMS input/ouput?

Not to hi-jack this thread but a related question. Is it best to have ball valves on both the in and out (top and bottom) of the herms coil or could you get away with only one for flow control. Which location would be best? I would assume bottom to allow complete drainage.

    Copper or Stainless????

Bobby M, I'm a little dense at times and am a visual learner. Coule you elaborate a little more on the "self made" weldless bulkhead you described. Maybe a visual parts diagram? Do you solder the SS washer? Sorry if this is a dumb inquiry but I'mthinking of doing this also and would like to get...

Bottom Drain Pots and hard plumbing

Hey TheZer, I agree that's a pretty cool way to keep the FB in place. It looks like it is flexible also. Is there any secret on the best way to remove the spring from the sankey dip tube? Also how do you keep your kegs attached on your stand? They appear to just be sitting on that small ledge.

    HEX Redesign

This design fits what I am trying to do at this point enough that I just started searching for a Bain Marie to build one of my own. I'm thinking about maybe using an aquarium pump and use the bubbles to mix any stratification that may occur. Please keep us posted on the results of your first...

    HEX Redesign

Duuhh! I finally clicked the link and voila. There the info is. I am still interested in the performance of this thing though. Do you have any pics of the element enclosure and top of the pot?

    HEX Redesign

Hey microbusbrewery, this couldn't have been posted at a better time. I am in the process of trying to build the exact thing. I had imagined using an old cornie keg but this looks like it might be easier to work with. I also was going to just "drop in" the coil similar to a small wort chiller...

This is how big your Mash Tun needs to be

Can somebody tell me how much volume loss would occur if you cut the top of a 15.5 gallon keg off where the skirt meets. In other words there would be no curve, only straight sides. I'm guessing less than a gallon but wanted to be sure. I'm wanting to make a straight sided Mash Tun for a "tippy...

Which vessel would this work best?

So the consensus is not to use as a BK. Someone had mentioned to me that a larger BK would help with boil overs. I was just concerned about the seam. It is a solid weld all the way around and certainly holds liquid I guess I could see if Bobbby M. could make a custom sight glass. This thing is...

Which vessel would this work best?

Hey microbusbrewery, thanks for replying. I was wondering if this was a dumb question (due to lack of response). I am planning on eventually going electric and was a little bit concerned about it not being seemless. This thing would hold a hell of a lot of grain as a MT. I guess I could look at...
