    Watching the air lock

I'm still pretty new to fermentations. I can't help but go check on whatever is fermenting at that time several times a day and get excited to see the air lock bubbling away. The more aggressive the bubbles the more I smile. Like a kid looking at the Christmas tree. I know not to place too...

    Frozen mead

Thanks. I thought it would be. Unfortunately the opening of the jug was too small to get under the ice. It's my first ever mead haven't even tasted it yet. Been sitting in secondary for 6 months. Was getting ready to back sweeten and bottle it to taste it .

    Frozen mead

I accidently froze a 1 gallon jug of mead. Put it in my keezer to try and cold crash but must have knocked the thermostat probe and my whole keezer froze. I took it out and it's thawing out. Is it still good. Not sure why it wouldn't be but thought I'd check

    Brewzilla chiller fittings

So I was thinking that some kind of quick coupler for the chiller would make things easier for storage and such. Has anyone used something for this? Would compression fittings and cam lock connections be the way to go? It's probably the pricier way of doing it but I'd rather do it once right...

    Just ordered brewzilla 65L 220v

Thank you . Didn't think of that. I'll have to keep that in mind. Looks like a month or two at least till they ship so I've got some time.

    Just ordered brewzilla 65L 220v

No I didn't. I haven't looked into when or why you would use one too much. It seems to be mostly used for highly hoped beers from the little I've seen. I don't like IPA's so don't plan on using large amounts of hops. I was thinking to keep using my hop bags for now to help keep the mess down...

    Just ordered brewzilla 65L 220v

Thanks I've read through that thread also. Lots of great info. Planning to use the brewzilla to heat up sparge water and put in my current mash ton then mash in the brewzilla and sparge from the old mash ton. Might take a few tries to get the temps correct but it seems like a good path. If I...

    Just ordered brewzilla 65L 220v

Just placed my order at More Beer. Got the neoprene jacket with it. Plan to run in the garage where I already have a 30 amp 220v plug for the generator and a kerosene heater for the cold months. Recently built a fermentation chamber out of a small fridge with heat and cooling. Finished the 4 Keg...

    Another noob “test batch”

Sounds like a good experiment. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out

    Am I SOL?

So everything turned out well. Beer is good, no exploding bottles and it's carbonated. Have had about a dozen already.

    CT Brewers Check-In

@OLBrews and @wepeeler thanks for the invites. It's appreciated. But those are a bit to far for me to go. Maybe someone else will see these posts and join you.

    Stand up freezer

Never mind. I got a free used keezer (just the freezer) that needs some TLC on the lid.

    Stand up freezer

Has anyone converted a stand up freezer to a keezer? I'm thinking to use some of the higher shelves for bottled beer, yeast and supplies. I know the tap placement will have to go through the door or side and I would have to make sure it no lines. Is there a reason this is a bad idea? Is just me...

    Am I SOL?

It is in plastic totes just to be safe. I've done that with every batch so far.

    Am I SOL?

So I pitched the yeast per directions on the back of the package, hydrating it, then waited about 3 hrs. Added priming sugar to the bottling bucket, transfered and bottled. Here's hoping. I tasted it again and it's good so far.

    Am I SOL?

So my lhbs didn't have any cbc-1. But he sold me some nottingham and said it was the best of what he had for my situation. I'm going to add it tomorrow wait about an hour, transfer to bottling bucket with priming sugar and bottle. Keeping my fingers crossed as this beer smells and tastes very...
