BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

I use the IFM SM6004 series which can be found for <$50 fairly easily. Main difference is 4-20ma outputs instead of pulse. Wetted parts are 316 SS, PEEK, and FKM, all of which have temp ratings well over 200F, so I'm guessing the media temperature rating has more to do with the electronics. To...

FYI, Blichmann quick connectors fit them fine and make for as compact as a connection as you can get. Edit: For reference, here are some pictures.

I recirculate saniclean and pack all the lines and hold it that way until the next brew day. To clear them I use gravity drains or gas purge.

I think only location and size characteristics would need to be locked, which could probably be handled by a switch in the appearance tab of each element.

Yes they work fine, I have 3 of them. I'm traveling this weekend but I'll post not information when I get home.

Would need more motor information before a recommendation could be made. Motor voltage (240v), max current draw, frequency. I'm using Quencharc RC snubbers on 120v pumps with good success.

Sounds like classic inductive load EMI. Have you tried any suppressive techniques like this?

Show me your BruControl graphic interface.

Thanks! I think someone recommended it in the brucontrol thread: https://www.lucidchart.com/ I'm far from being artistically gifted, but this program was really easy to use. I think the free version has limited objects, so once I hit that limit I just signed up for the free trial and...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

For sure real time feedback is great, and making it actionable is even better. For example, I have found it useful to leverage the level sensors as an interlock check of sorts with the flow meter to make sure a vessel is filled to a certain amount before enabling a heating element, greatly...

I use volume sensors and they work fine, however my preference and opinion is that a flow meter is more accurate for vessel to vessel transfers.

So its just like any other software that has been written, licensed, and sold... ever? Sorry for the tongue in cheek, but my point is what is your expectation? No software life cycle lasts forever. From the licensing side, having spent a good portion of my career removing hardware...

From my testing, any output can be driven by a hysteresis element. Just keep in mind that you can't have the pump digital output element enabled at the same time as when it's under hysteresis control.

Yeah that would certainly limit Home edition's usefulness. Good to know Pro has the GPO add-in, I was thinking about that as I was typing my response, but I didn't know for sure.

I run Windows Server 2019 as a virtual machine, which fortunately gives you the control to not auto-patch and auto-reboot. I get my licenses as part of my MSDN subscription, but I see keys can be had from various retailers for <$100. Short of running Win10/11 Enterprise, I'm not sure home/pro...

I haven't tested myself, but seeing that Win 11 is the same SA release path that Win 10 is, I can't imagine there being any issues.

Solenoids throw a lot of EMI, so it can't hurt, but a flyback diode is better protection.

I'm using 1.1.22 and I can change graph time span as you describe...I can't remember where what was implemented though. Make sure you have user control turned on in the graph to be able to change it without unlocking.

I use ratcheting style tools for both ferrules and crimp on connectors. If you are asking about brands specifically, I use Klein tools and Panduit connectors, but all the ones I see on Amazon look nearly identical, so get whatever fits your budget.

I use 22/4 security (alarm/fire) wire, its stranded and shielded.
