Bummer, I'm going to have to lower my order on the Bavarian Wheat DME by 5 lbs (making my order 10lbs) I will increase my order on roasted barley from 5 lbs to 10 lbs. I'll start a split on Flaked Barley #3221D with 15 lbs.

Not sure. A stout is not so easy to tell the differences in base malts (at least for me). I've also used Avangard wheat in a few beers and it was excellent. Now that I think of it, my yield with the pale malt was better than I expected.

Works for me. I know that's not much but I've used it in a stout as a base and the beer came out great.

    Anyone in Chesterfield?

I live in Midlothian and buy supplies from Artisans as well. The owners are really nice and I like that you can order grains for pickup through the website and they will do a great job milling and packaging the grains for pickup. I don't belong to any groups and just brew by myself (yeah it's...

I could grab your order. I live near Richmond and also go out to Galax a couple times a year.

Cut back first hop shoots? Or wait and cut back all but best 3?

I have to say that it is quite surprising how much crap was posted in response to this topic. This is a topic discussed frequently in many research articles and guides published by Universities/Extension offices. Most information points to the practice of "crowning" or "scratching" being...

I'm still in on my previously open split (cara20). Not sure if there's a preference but I'd like to try closing a split on roasted barley. Put me down for: - 5 lbs of 1921C Briess Roasted Barley - 5 lbs of 3441C Briess DME Golden Light I'll just put out there that I'm coming from...

What a great experience the group buy was. I got to meet a few good people and sample some good beers. Although, not as many beers or people as I'd like. Next time I will plan to fly solo (-family in minivan), bring some beers for tasting, get there early & stay later. The NoVA traffic...

This is my first time and I was hoping to make it early and join in on the fun. But I'm coming from Richmond area and this trip just turned into a family trip to DC. I'll probably be there around 11-1130 unless my son's soccer is canceled. If that happens I can probably get there around 10 and...

This is kind of exciting! Just to be clear. I'm backing out of the Pilsen grains I wanted to split, the one you said isn't usually split as a base grain. I don't think it's on the spreadsheet anyways.
