    Grainfather Kickstarter

Yes, I have another circuit I can easily tap into. I have an insta hot in my kitchen, which I can draw gallons of hot water on demand at 160 degrees. I figure this will be more than sufficient to both start the mash, and for sparging. I figure I won't need more power for the grainfather. If...

first time building sparge water tank...

So I just ordered a Grainfather. I need a separate sparge water vessel. I have a extra boiler pot that I was going to use. My thought was, knock a hole in it towards the bottom, put a valve in, hook up some tubing, and I'm good to go. Having never built anything like this, want to make sure...

    Grainfather Kickstarter

I ordered one. I think it looks like a great concept, and I'm looking forward to trying it. Will it boil as fast as a gas model? no. but it fits my bill perfectly. I can use it inside, which is huge for me. there are a ton of videos online of it working, looks great. One of the thought I had...

Grainfather sales now live in U.S.! Woohhooo

I actually talked to the staff in New Zealand today, very friendly folks. sounds like they are on the ship as we talk, waiting to land in the US in late July, and ship to us then.

Grainfather sales now live in U.S.! Woohhooo

I don't know, I watched all three videos in this series. I think he gives pretty good reviews to both. On the up side, he appreciates the greater efficiency of the GF vs. the BM, and actually picks the GF brew at the end of the day taste wise. the main downside is that is it less programmable...

BrewNanny - What do you think?

Guys, seriously, I am worried about the delivery guys. On December 23, 2014, Brewnanny wrote "We are having some issues due to the time of year, our carriers are not picking up on schedule and are not taking as many shipments as we have, so we are backed up with orders ready to go but unable...

Brewery logo on glasses and pitchers

Cafe press will allow you to put logos on pint glasses, shirts, glassware, whatever. I have used them a couple of times, and are easy to work with, and though the price is more than a stock glass, isn't crazy expensive

    watching fermentation is fascinating

it literally is like watching a time lapse video of the storms of Saturn. never gets old, amazing. truly adds to the feeling that you truly are creating something

    watching fermentation is fascinating

So, for many people jumping into home brewing, I believe the most common set up is to start with buckets. I know that is the way I got started. Too many horror stories about glass breaking / hard to clean / etc. I brewed my first 10 or so batches in buckets, and had no idea what I was missing...

BrewNanny - What do you think?

why does this tread keep generating the same quote by different new users. Wow, that looks like a high tech solution searching for a problem to solve. I think I will just spend the money on more grains and hops and stick with my low tech solution.

    Gasket for big mouth bubbler?

I just received by first plastic big mouth bubbler. Seems pretty cool, but I have seen lots of comments about difficulties in getting a tight seal of the lid. I can't believe the plastic one doesn't come with a gasket for the lid. Has anyone found a decent gasket which will help better seal up...

    Edgestar KC3000 Twin

I found the instructions to be impossible. I know this is a different model, but it should be pretty helpful. Even if the guy in the video looks like a thumb.

WTF am I doing wrong! Help!!!

Generally, I believe the gas post has slots in the bottom to delineate it as the gas post. No slots generally mean liquid. Soooo, you may have it on the wrong one

Just bottled an IPA that was in fermentor for 2.5 years

I don't know why there are negative responses here. It is like finding an old bottle of Billy Beer or New Coke. Who cares how or why it was found, or whether or not it will win a pedigree award for the ultimately representation of an IPA. It is an opportunity which no one else here has had -...

Woops...... he shoots he scores (in a bad way)

For those playing along at home - the correct answer was - "No difference". I have never brewed Chinook IPA before, so I don't have much to compare it too, but I tried some of it, and it was delicious, so I don't think it is making any difference. Interesting "experiment" though
