2019 Thanksgiving Turkey - who's smokin' this year?

I am doing a bird on my Kamado Joe but more of a roast than a smoke. Mad Max is my spirit animal so I just follow his guide with a few modifications.

Ss Grain Mill from Ss brewtech preorder

Ha! My dentist doesn’t need any more of my money. Thank you for the comment on unmalted grains. Looking back that isn’t much of my grist mainly malted wheat and spelt. That barley crusher was a champ though. Served me well for many years. The SS is totally overkill.

Ss Grain Mill from Ss brewtech preorder

I have several items from Ss they stand behind their stuff so I’ll take the chance. That is what finally brought down my barley crusher. I am so tired of fiddling with it. The hopper would fall off spilling grain or it would luck up and I’d have to dump it to free it. It served me well and...

Ss Grain Mill from Ss brewtech preorder

I preordered it. I have a well used barley crusher that basically gave out on my last brew day. I know this thing is overkill for what I do but I typically brew 10-20 gallon batches and brew a couple of times a month. When I brew it is also usually back to back batches. I do a lot of Belgians...

Bootleg Biology: Mad Fermentationist Brett Saison

This has also become my “house” saison yeast. It’s easy to control the tartness and there is just enough funk to initiate the uninitiated.

    Beer got ropey

I’ve seen it it kinda feels like slime or mucus which sounds horrible but really isn’t a problem other than the time it takes the Brett to clean it up. Just give it time. Box up those bottles and forget about them for a few months or longer. You will be rewarded

    Homebrew Con 2020 Nashville

Hey all I am a Nashvillian looking forward to this! Must hit breweries would be Bearded Iris, Smith & Lentz, Southern Grist, Tailgate (several locations HQ in west, one in midtown close to downtown and one in East Nashville that is where they do their funky stuff) a little further out is Yazoo’s...

    Spike Complete System

I do 1.25 quarts per pound. I mentioned this earlier in the thread but I set up everything the night before and let it mash overnight if I am not doing a stepped mash. I hit my expected gravity or a little higher every time. The higher comes from the fact that I had a BIAB set up before and...

    Pumpkin chaos

Probably should add an annoying relative who always brings up politics or religion. Seriously I have made and had quite a few pumpkin beers. The spices shine through very few have much else. It is worth a try just know it’ll be a sticky mess.
