    Starting my eletric setup, questions

This is the design I went with for my setup. I only had a 3-wire input though, so no pump control.

    DIY mash tun question/help

The bazooka tube is not ideal for a mash tun. They are usually used for brew kettles. I would recommend using a false bottom. I found the braided hoses can get damaged during stirring.

    Beersmith error?

I use the mobile app and I ignore those numbers and only reference the numbers on the time tab to get my volumes.

    NEIPAs and Protein Rests

I am at about 20% mixed between flaked oats and wheat. Thanks.

    NEIPAs and Protein Rests

I am formulating a NEIPA recipe. This will be my first true NEIPA brew, although I have done many pale asked with mainly late hop additions. But my question lies with the fact my recipe had a lot of flaked unmalted grains. My initial reaction would be to do a protein rest. However, most recipes...

    EBIAB control panel choice help

I chose the Auber EZBoil because of its renowned use. It was designed for brewing. I like the phase angle firing method used without the need to calibrate p, i & d values that trend to overshoot. I never looked into the brew boss option. I was happy with the EZBoil.

    EBIAB control panel choice help

Have you explored any of Doug's schematics? Sounds like he has one you could use.

    EBIAB control panel choice help

I will start with saying I just got an EZBoil yesterday and love it! Like any engineering problem, let's start by defining your needs and requirements. For example... 1. 3 or 4 wire 240V input? 2. Pump control? 3. Safety mechanisms (avoid dry firing or running pump dry?) 4. Complete diy or of...

    Zero Carbonation

If you use sugar to carb your beer. After you place the boiled sugar into the beer, lightly stir the sugar into solution. After I did this, I saw better results with even carbonation amongst bottles.

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

Well after my last brew day, I had issues with the connection of my Chinese RTD from eBay and the PID overshooting it's setpoint at ramp up, I decided to upgrade my setup once again. I bought new RTDs with XLR connectors and a EZBoil from Auber. Set me back over $100, but after a wet test last...

    Brau Supply

I agree. You want to calibrate the RTD at a temperature range that matters the most; the mash.

Looking for Advice on 110V 2 Vessel RIMS Setup

I just switched to BIAB also for the fun of building an electric system. I also saw a time savings, but now I started brewing recipes that require a whirlpool addition and my time is the same now. But less cleaning is awesome.

Would brew bag size vs kettle size affect efficiency?

Three things that really boosted my efficiency were... 1. Are you getting full conversion? I test EVERY batch before calling the mash complete with an iodine test. (Brown=complete, black=not complete) 2. The finest of the crush. Try crushing your grains at a smaller setting on the grain mill. 3...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

My cheap BIAB cart. * Ikea Table for $7.99 x2. I needed a bottom shelf so I bought a second. * Old towel as a heat barrier * Casters to allow me to move it throughout the brew day $36. I need to be able to carry this cart from the basement to my garage, so a requirement was lightweight. The...

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

Enjoying a coffee as I am running an Autotune at 152 before my brew day. Going to be making a Session Black IPA. 5.2% ABV and 48 IBUs. Most of the IBUs will come from late additions. Added casters to my cart so I can roll everything out to the driveway when I am ready for chilling. My immersion...

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

Plan to keep it. I looked the other day on eBay and saw them cheaper than what I paid. Search "Greenlee 730 1 1/4".

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

Thank you. Hope these answers help. I was going to go 10 gallon also, but the typical 5500W ripple element does not fit, so I went 15 gallon. I was originally going to slowly build a eHERMs setup (over years), but decided to go eBIAB for the cost effectiveness of the setup. 1. Locknut on the...

temperature stabaliization in kettle during mash

Have you tried a batch without stirring? I have to think the uncovering and pulling heat from the bottom to the top is what is getting your drop in temp. I only did one BIAB before jumping into recirc eBIAB, but that one batch I left it alone with only a blanket covering the pot on the stove and...

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

My parts list is a lot more than $260 for the Kettle... $200 for the Kettle (eBay) $41 for the element $26 for the element enclosure $28 for the bag $35 for the false bottom $31 for the spin cycle (whirlpool) $15 for the cable (used) So expecting $260 for a pre-built unit is underestimating the...
