    Turning a kettle electric

I agree with Bishop, spend a month researching this. Like Blazinlow86 stated, start with reading the guide at www.theelectricbrewery.com, but know there are "newer" ways to execute a design. The design on this website is like a pioneer. The suggestions you made, do not align with your needs you...

Show Your Electric Brew Day Pictures!

Reviving an old thread! NEIPA Brew Day!! Trying my best not to get a stuck sparge since I used a LHBS's Milk with an adjustable gap setting.

    First stab at a neipa

I recommend using the mutated 1318 stain which Vermont breweries are actually using, WLP 095 Burlington Ale Yeast White Labs.

Calculated Numbers Not Working on My E-Kettle

I have been running with an eBIAB setup for a few months now. I have switched to heating my strike water to my MASH temperature +2-3F (Recirculating during the rise of the strike water, for example, Mash temp = 152F, then heat strike water to 155F), mashing in, then let the temp rise back up to...

Totally building an electric biab system

I like the one temperature probe idea. I am still contemplating modifying my setup to go that direction. I also wish I knew about the solderless tri-clamp fitting at brew hardware, I would have used that for the element. Looking good!

    Beersmith Decoction Schedule

Watch the Brewing TV video on YouTube, this is where my chemistry knowledge is lacking and I do not want to lead you astray. But this is a key step I took away from the video.

    Beersmith Decoction Schedule

During the first rise from a protein rest to boiling, you want a sac rest to about denaturing the grains and losing eff from the remaining starch conversion in the decotion.

    Thoughts on new kickstarter

I agree. I like how they did not show a video for the boil.

My setup and questions for fermentation!

I agree it's the Brewer's doing on the scratching part. Either way, I am recommending one keeps an eye out for scratches.

My setup and questions for fermentation!

I would use a bucket first just because of the ease of use. You can easily dump the wort into the bucket after the Brew. The only downside to the bucket is longevity, they tend to last a year or so. I would not use of scratched on the inside since it could harbor bacteria. At that point I only...

    Beersmith Decoction Schedule

I use Michael Dawson's advice he took from someone else. 1 Qt per pound of grain (thick mash). Slowly as back in while sitting vigorously and measuring temperature the whole time. There is a YouTube video by Brewing TV that covers this very well. I translated this to a cooler mash tun without...

    California Auberins EZBoil for trade

You can short the temp input and change the mode to TC and it's a dpsr1. In case you do not get any takers.

Totally building an electric biab system

I believe your patience and research will pay off. I am sure you will have great satisfaction when you end up running your inaugural brew day.

    Backfeed 14-50P/GCFI for generator?

I just shut off the house breaker before I ever connect a generator for this reason. But don't turn on the house breaker with the green still connected 😀

    Drilling Kettles

I bought my Greenlee punch (1 1/4 inch) used off eBay. For about 50% the cost. Just search 730bb and the size desired.

    Fatherhood And Brewing

I usually mow my lawn during a brew day. Small 1/4 acre lot and everytime I have to dump the clippings I check on the brew. So my wife supports the hobby.

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

I am just using standard twist lock connectors. I just keep them out of way from splashes. At the kettle I have a hot pod from Brew Hardware.
