    American IPA Fresh Squeezed IPA

Brewed this up today with my brother. I made zero substitutions or alterations. Ended up with EXACTLY 6 gallons after a 90 min boil. Added oak chips to fermenter as perscribed. Gravity reading was 1.082. Hydro taste test was very rich, sweet then the hops kick in and hang out forever. I like it...

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

I thought this sounded great so I brewed it. It was my first all grain 5 gallon batch. I substituted 1# barley with quick oats, also 2# of plain pale 2 row or 6 row with 1# Caramalt and 1 # Carmel malt, also I added 1# 80L Carmel and used 1# of chocolate malt for my roasted. Last 30 min of...

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

I used the clean, clear clover honey that is on the shelf at the grocery store. The last time I used the same honey was with a brewers best robust porter kit. I was suprised that the beer ended up higher ABV by 1.5% than the kit was supposed to finish. It seemed like the honey fermented...

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

Here's what I did with what was left. Opened the bottles, poured their contents back into a sterile fermenter (ended up around 2/3 gallon). Then I boiled 1 1/2 pound of honey and a half cup pure maple syrup in a pint of water. Topped of my 1 gallon growler/fermenter and sure enough, the yeast...

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

Wow, ok. Well, that's why I brewed a smaller batch. I knew I was experimenting with the unknown. You live and learn, part of the fun. Thanks for the advice! I do think I will try this recipe (minus some of the Amber or crystal malts) again with some tweaking since this beer had good hop...

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

Yeah, I'm not sure how it ended up here! Using the mobile app & didn't realize I guess..? Sorry, I'll try to get it put where it belongs.

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

I didn't realize the Amber was less fermentables. I should have used some LME then? Or Honey, or Dextrose like your saying. Yeah, my gravity didn't drop any. I may try boiling some Dextrose & water then stirring it in..

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

Yeast stopped fermenting at around 7%. Still way too sweet. Going to try repitching with another strain

I really like Shorts! Huma Lupa Liscious is probably my favorite of theirs. Also Founders Breakfast Stout and Bells Two Hearted Ale. Vivants Big Red Coq, Trebuchet and Farmhand Ale are awesome. You probably can get Three Floyd's over in Chicagoland! Zombie Dust!

Did I forget to mention I'm from Michigan? Well I do enjoy having many great local brews to try out here in the Mitten State. Has anyone heard of Brewery Vivant from Grand Rapids, Mi? They create some awesome & unique beers.

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

I've read a lot of the Fuggle IPA's fall short on bitterness and aroma. Fuggles are only 4% alpha so I tried using a lot of them. Plus I threw in some Simcoe for piney ness.
