How often can you reuse plastic buckets as fermenters?

I use a bucket that I have had since 1996. I have had one infection, which I killed with a bleach bath, but other than that no problems. Take care of it and a bucket can last a long time.

Test for leaks in counterflow chiller?

Might even be better that way. More time for a small leak to show itself.

Test for leaks in counterflow chiller?

What you can do is run a strong solution of food dyed water through your copper line, while running a slow flow of water through your outer hose. If you see any evidence of dye in the discharge from the outer hose, you have a leak.

Building Cabinet For Brew Equipt - Sanitation Question

Another option would be shellac. The shellac itself is food safe (it is used to coat medicine and candy, amongst other things) and the solvent for it is alcohol, which flashes off quickly when applied.

    Chilling water temperature variations

Yes it will. The larger the difference in temperature between your cooling water and your wort, the faster the heat will transfer. This is why dropping the first 100 degrees goes so fast ( greater temp. difference) and the last 10 degrees goes so slow (lower difference in temp. ).

You know you're a hophead when...

Or when your doctor says he has some good news about your EKG and you are disappointed to find out he isn't talking about hops.

    Enamled pot

I brewed with a graniteware pot for at least 10 years and it worked fine. I only stopped using it because I wanted to do full wort boils and got a good deal on 12 gal aluminum pot.
