    First time using Star San

And they are even cheaper when you find them at garage sales. I got my 45 bottle tree and vinator at a garage sale for $5, and these are the two brewing items I find the most at garage sales. But even at full price, they are indeed worth every penny.

    First time using Star San

Use a vinator http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/brewing/brewing-equipment/bottling/vinator-bottle-rinser to shoot StarSan into the bottles and then let them drain for a few minutes on a bottle tree. I do this to my bottles as I am racking to my bottling bucket, and by the time the beer is...

Top tips for speeding up a brew day

I light the fire under the BK While I am sparging. When I get to half my starting boil volume, I light my burner and by the time I am done sparging I am 2 minutes away from a boil. Saves me a good 20 minutes.

    How to dry CFC?

The air compressor idea works great, But be careful if you are using an oil lubricated compressor. It is not unusual for a (very) small amount of oil to be mixed in with the air. A filter between the compressor and the CFC is a good idea, or better yet an oiless compressor.

    Understanding hop stands

When I do a hopstand I throw the hops in at flameout then cover the kettle and let it sit for 30 minutes. I tried cooling to 180 then adding the hops (again with a 30 min stand) but I found that I got less aroma this way. After fermentation, I dry hop with the same hops I used in the...

    Splitting a smack pack

I'd be more inclined to make a starter first and split that, the larger volume of yeast after making a starter should make it easier to divide into several smaller containers. However, this being HBT, I'm sure you will get a dozen different answers, all of which will be right.

    Online Bulk Grain, Best Prices?

I think your best bet is to go through the suppliers from the 2010 thread and see what their prices are like today. Because final cost may be dependant on shipping rates to your location, what is good for someone else may not be so good for you.
