    Coconut Porter

    I taste-tested a small 12oz-er last night (7 days in bottle)...still has alot of twang to it, and the coconut is VERY pronounced. The rum is just barely noticeable (which I like). Not that great last night, but hopefully it'll mellow out with time.

    nice work! recipe looks simple & tasty. any chance we can get a shot of the beer in a pint glass? Seeing a thick brown head on a dark beer like this basically equates to beer porn for me. again - nice work. especially for your first brew.

    I try to do a batch every couple weeks, depends mostly on carboy space & how much bottles I have ready to go (have yet to upgrade to kegs).

    Maple Nut Brown - too sweet?

    Did a maple nut brown recipe from the local brew store & put 2 quarts of maple syrup in the wort as soon as I turned the heat off. aged 2 weeks in a primary, 3.5 weeks in a secondary and I just bottled tonight. so sweet! almost too sweet... anyone have experience with using maple syrup...

    Just did my first batch with the 3068 yeast, 5 gals of apple juice, & 2lbs of dextrose. I've seen some varied responses in how long until ready...seems the consensus is about 3 months with the 3068?
