12 Beers of Christmas 2021 Edition

@calandryll I didnt use a culture but I tried some raw honey(local to me) and it worked on my test batch but not on the final batch that I ended up shipping. On the test batch it gave it a nice slight tartness that complimented the spices I used. Unfortunately it didnt do anything (flavorwise)...

Michigan Looking for 75/25 Nitro fill, UP/WI

Anybody have a reliable source for 75/25 Nitro mix? Local suppliers around me don't get it in often and I would like a reliable source for it before buying my own tank. The only mix they get up here is the long draw mix(I think its 40%N/60%CO2).

Aeration System Introducing lead and Lead Compounds into wort

If not the air stone, it is likely the solder used to connect the power cord to the pump. P65 warnings don’t usually take usage into consideration. If it has any lead products in the BOM then it’s going to be listed as it can make it into your body.

12 Beers of Christmas 2020 Edition

I used WLP530 Abbey Ale and yes I did leave the wild culture out. I did a test batch in the beginning of the year and to one keg I added a mixed brett culture and the other I added(and carbed it) with 2 lbs of raw honey. The sour culture dried out the beer too much compared to the latter. The...

    Crowler canner

You can get one directly from Oktober, Crowler & Can Seamers For The Beverage Industry | Oktober Can Seamers. They are a great company to work with in my recent experience. Looks like they only offer the Commercial variant(Model 7) in the crowler setup though, not there homebrewing model (SL1).

12 Beers of Christmas 2020 Edition

Thanks for the kind words! With trying all the spices/herbs alone I feel the tannin comes from a combo of the bog myrtle and the juniper. I was actually considering oaking a batch for next year to see how it changes it. I think ill be making this one every summer now for a fun holiday ale to...

    Identify this fridge

Send me some rough measurements of your "emblem space". I may know of some old kelvinators now that I think of it. I could try to get an emblem off for you if you want to pay shipping?

    Identify this fridge

I like it too!!!! You need a patina'd emblem for it though. Bummer that its gone. After looking at my BILs, his is the same size and layout as yours but the GE emblem on the front does not match up with the space on yours. Also his handle has GE forged into it. Guessing the previous poster is...

Bottling nitro stout for a comp.

I cant say with 100% certainty but Guinness Draught bottles definitely exhibit "Nitro" qualities and they contain no widget(I use them exclusively for bottling homebrew as its all my dad drinks). I can say with certainty that the bottles are pressurized way above normal ales(non nitro). Try...

Bottling nitro stout for a comp.

Haha, Ball sells there own widget in a can. You can fill in 7 easy steps! I wonder what the dosing machine would cost to get this right? https://www.ball.com/na/solutions/markets-capabilities/capabilities/beyond-beverage-cans/widget-technology

Bottling nitro stout for a comp.

They no longer use the widget in there bottles but I do agree. The microdosing of nitrogen that they have dialed in is probably a very fine line between that lovely cascade and a bottle blowing up in the back of your car on a warm summer day.
