Wish I would have had this a few months ago. I brewed the Roquefort 8 clone I found here a little while back and I have to say it is also pretty close. Now I will try your recipe. Here is a pic of my first clone:
I actually enjoyed my bottle of DFH red & white. It is not the best beer I have ever had but it was interesting...certainly not crap. Maybe you got a bad bottle? After trying it once though there are other less expensive beers that I would rather buy...
I brewed this one up a couple weeks ago (extract & primary only for 19 days). I followed the recipe except I used just WLP351 Bavarian Hefeweizen. I didn't make a starter on purpose to bring out more banana flavors which seems to have worked perfectly. It has been kegged for about 5 days now...
Happens to me with every brew I bottle haha...also with patience you get crystal clear ales. The trick is to brew even more so that you cant possibly drink all of it before it ages out :mug:
SN Kellerweiss lately because it is so damn hot down here! Before that it was Roquefort 8 but it was making too big a dent in my wallet....so I'm currently trying to clone it : )
If you want to do it on the cheap I would just buy a new regulator like this: http://www.amazon.com/Bayou-Classic-M5HPR-1-Regulator-Assembly/dp/B0009JXYSM
I use that regulator and it works fine on a standard burner to bring 10 gallons to a rolling boil quickly.
If you want overkill and...
English Milds, Hefeweizens, Wheat Beers, Pale Ales...Beers that are relatively low in alcohol content that you make a decent starter for can be good to drink in as little as 3 weeks.
I went yesterday for the tour actually. They had brown, amber, elissa IPA, weedwhacker, and lawnmower.
If you go, bring something to eat and some friends and a board game to play in the beer hall.:mug:
I like how their argument as to why people shouldn't be allowed to homebrew is because there would be no government entity watching the people brew...just sad.
I don't think any homebrewers do it solely to get drunk...brewing beer takes alot of time and effort. All the "wine-ohs" are just going...
I remember reading a thread not too long ago about some guys who made stainless kettles in florida...If I remember correctly, they worked for a medical supply company and made kettles on the side. Can anyone link me to their website? Thanks in advance.
That sunset and that portable kegerator look like a great combo.
I will be smoking a homemade pastrami that I have done many times. It's been brining for a week. I'm putting that and some ribs on the smoker with some pecan wood I had laying around.
Unfortunately, no beer will be made tomorrow...
Wow talk about a type-A personality with that RA. I can just picture some ****** bag saying "I'm just letting you know I wrote you up for violating policy" give me a break.
Luckily, in undergrad I got the cool RA who didn't care if we drank as long as we didn't get too crazy.
I'm up here visiting the folks in Fort Worth, Texas and I picked up a sampler 6-pack of it at the grocery store for $6.99... I really enjoyed the Brown Ale and Rye Pale Ale...the regular pale ale is ordinary but still good. Hell, for $6.99 a sixer it is a great buy that is good craft beer for...
+1 I couldn't agree more.
Only people I can see getting hurt by this are the distributors but that is their problem...markets evolve. Major beer distributors have had a monopoly for long enough.
Thought I would take this opportunity to brag about some of my CL scores from the past :mug:
I scored all the guts for a double tap system for $100:
Got this nice smoker for $75:
:fro:
