Finally! A good use for Coors Light

At a small bar in the Caribbean, they ran out of chairs so the barkeep rigged this stool for my SWMBO. Thanks Coors, for keeping my SWMBO well rested while carousing the bar scene in the Caribbean.

How to handle a previously mistreated dog

People personify dogs. Dogs cant be coddled. They only see coddling as a form of submission and with an unstable dog it can lead to a dangerous dog. As a human, at least a caring human, it is a natural reaction to feel sorry for abused animals and some people want to help them. Which is...

Taking a Brewery Road trip around Lake Michigan

Added to list. I would like to do more in Chicago, but our time actually spent there is going to be minimal. Its going to the be the 2nd to last or last day of our trip. We'll probably end up spending a night in Milwaukee, 4-5 nights driving the northern part of the lake, 1 night in Grand...

how much volume does a lb of grain typically have?

Wrong, when the grains absorb the water the density of the mixture changes. D = M/V or V = M/D The mass will stay constant, but the density changes when the water and grains are mixed. The volume changes depending on how much water is absorbed into the grain. Edit: Missed the point that...

How to handle a previously mistreated dog

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong... Edit: broadbill does correct this statement later in his post While the girlfriend needs to be the "pack leader", anyone else that is involved in the dogs life (children, significant other, friends) all need to understand and act as a pack leader when it comes to...

    Bobby M You Duh Man

Ordered and Installed 2 sight glass kits for my HLT and BK. Installation and calibration was a breeze. First brew day with them was a double brew day. Having a more precise indicator for liquid volumes was very convenient. Cheers

Schmidt Brewery Water, St. Paul MN

haha I live in Roseville, but I typically brew in Prior Lake, so I drive right by this well every time I go to brew and have always been curious. I agree, but it was a local brewery, so there is some nostalgia. Its kind of like Grain Belt Premium, its not that great, but it is local (sort of).

The Standard EPA, IPA, or Lager

Why is it that every brewery, Brewpub, microbrewery, etc etc always have a EPA, IPA, or some Lager as their poster child? Now my knowledge base is somewhat limited to the MN craft beer and other craft brews that are sold more widely, but almost all breweries, that I know of, has one of these...

Schmidt Brewery Water, St. Paul MN

The old Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul MN, which has been closed for some time re-opened their well in 2010 for public use. The well taps into the Mount Simon-Hinckley aquifer, which I guess has water that is over 30,000 years old. I'd like to try this water in a batch of beer. Just thought it...
