    Round, Square, Rectangle Mash Tun?

What are the pros / cons of different shaped cooler mash tuns? To me, it would be whatever your budget / space allow. I don't know, I don't even have a mash tun.... Is this going to be one of those round head lights vs square head lights?

    HELP: Walk-in Cooler Ideas

Polyisocyanurate would work very well for you. But I worry about the wood studs being the short circuit in this application. A continuous run of insulation board on the inside would help more than you could imagine. A 2x8 has an R-value of about 1. Not a huge deal if they are spaced 24"...

It has a label on the bottom that says hopped. How can I search for a recipe using hopped LME?

Have a 3.52# can of John Bull Light

What should I make with it? It came with a brewing setup I bought on craigslist. The rest of the ingredients I wouldn't trust, but this is a can of John Bull Light.

    Old Dogfish 60 min?

The entire idea around an IPA is that is will last a long time. Call the brewery and tell them that you had an issue.

What homebrew are you serving for Christmas?

I'm bringing a party pig full of German Doppelbock. I tasted it last night and it is great! I added 5 oz of Goldings hops in the primary and used a lager yeast.

    My stove is WEAK

I use electric also. It's too cold to brew outdoors! Your element may only be 2100W (or less?). Try changing it out for a 2600W element. The increase in amps is minimal (about 2 amps). Insulate the sides of the pot also...

my impressions of the Party Pig

I've been brewing for about 2 years now and have bottled all of my brew to share with family around holidays. Recently I saw a Party Pig at the LHBS and thought that would be the shizzle, but for $40 I should wait (I brew on a budget). Searching for beer on craigslist netted me a pig for $5...

High hop aroma/flavor without high bitterness

Have you tried different hops? Some hops like Centennial were bred more for aroma and some were bred for bitterness.

    Mr. Beer for Christmas?

I still use my Mr. Beer. It makes quick and easy beer and just enough for the party pig. Just use good yeast and don't let them use the booster packs. www.mrbeerfans.com

    Just cracked my stovetop...

I haven't cracked ours, but I can tell you that my wife broke ours a couple days after we put it in. Repaired under warranty and the list cost for the top was as much as buying a new stove. Sucks man. I'm for sure putting an element in my brew pot now. FWIW, Wal*Mart has a 22quart stainless...

    Brewing log book

I made a brew log, thought I'd share: http://www.steelnthings.com/beer/beerlog.xls It is a simple form. I'll have a paper copy that I can print out and keep in my binder, and an electronic file that I can share. I haven't brewed a batch with it yet, so it may need some modification. But...

    Electric hot plate

I give up. Even if I had one with enough wattage, it would still take forever to make a batch. I'll just find a propane burner and use a brew hauler. Thanks.

    Electric hot plate

Anyone use this one: http://www.missionrs.com/6310-1.html Well, if I slip and fall (which I have done) the beer will make a sticky mess and I'm trying not to take over our small kitchen when I brew. It was fine with the Mr. Beer stuff, but me stepping up to the next level would be better in...

    Electric hot plate

I've been searching for information about hot plates and I haven't found what I am looking for. I want to get a hot plate that will allow me to boil 5 gallon batches in my basement so I don't have to carry a 5 gallon carboy down the stairs. My beer room is in the basement and I can control the...
