Home Brewer TV #33... Water and Hops

Great show, can't wait to see how your hops turn out. After I see how yours go I might just give it a shot. Oh, and the reference about 48 below zero made me shudder..it's been a long winter, only thinking warm thoughts, and trying to forget winter. I got that stout in my beer club last...

    Coopers Kit and DME

I think he meant you don't need to wait for the temp to get up to boil when you add your DME, you can do so before full boil. You want to boil for 60 min. You can also research late extract addition if you are looking to lighten the color a bit, but even with this process you are doing a 60...

    Coopers Kit and DME

My brother likes the taste he gets with using Coopers malt extract, so he uses the can, and then adds 3 lbs of DME.

    Beer & Monks

The Catholic church is not against beer or alcohol. The church believes it should just be kept in moderation and not imbibe in excess (gluttony).

Looking for a good luau beer

Wheat ale would be good. Like a summer ale with lemon zest. I just brewed one last Sunday, don't know how good it will be yet, but it looks amazing.

Looking for a good luau beer

I was just going to say cream ale too, heck I guess I will. Cream ale. Nice and refreshing on a hot summer night. Man, now I want one

    Some clarity, please

Help with my SNPA inspired recipe

Jollytim- so your doing an extract batch, ... 1) how much are you boiling? 2) how is your color compared to SNPA?

    Is homebrewing that creative?

Anything you know how to do is easy. You purchased an extract kit which has it's own complexity, but if you feel it's not creative enough, move on to AG (All Grain). You can get as creative as you would like. I hope you enjoy your new hobby.

    Amber Ale Fermentation

Starting gravity for that beer is 1.042-1.046 I've made that beer and I really liked it. Oddly I liked the beer when it was fresh off it's 2 weeks bottle conditioning..and liked it less as it aged (5+weeks). Enjoy though, no nothing is wrong. My batch I brewed on Sunday only had active...

    Beersmith - Coopers malt extract..

This is for my brother who is not on the forums. He likes the taste of the Pale Ale can from Coopers LME. It's prehopped so people can just open the can and add water, but he uses it as a base. He adds more dry malt extract, grains and hops to his wort. I bought him Beersmith, but none...

    Cleaning vs. Sanitizing

Another vote for PBW for your cleaner, and starsan for your sanitizer. Both very easy to use. I doubt there is anyone on these boards that didn't mess something up with their beer.
