Is this an appropriate beginner pot?

I have boiled 7.25 gallons in a 40qt aluminum pot on my electric stove. The first time I did it the boil was pretty weak. So the second time I tented in the pot with aluminum foil and it went really good.

Cold Crashing Without a Fridge or Temp Control

If you have winter where you live - I put the carboy up on a table by a window, opened the window a crack. Then I duct taped the crack except for the bottom part of the window, put a hooded sweater over the carboy and put the hood up against the hole I made. Cold air flows in and around the...

Jay Leno Should Retire So Conan Doesn't Walk

If you love Conan so much you should've tuned in. Just a bunch of bandwagon BS if you ask me.

    Irish Car Bomb Stout

Wacky. Maybe a gallon of my upcoming stout will incorporate this somehow. I like it!

Now I have to kill my wife...

I can grasp putting the poo in a bucket. What I don't understand is part where water and evergreen leaves are added.

    mouse trap recommendation

I have seen these used successfully: http://www.mousetraps.org.uk/Mouse-Traps/Whole-House-Ultrasonic-Mouse-Repellent In my parents cabin. They bought a nice log cabin but it had been uninhabited for about 5 years - full of mice and mouse **** everywhere. After it was all cleaned, the...

    Simple Malt Extract recipe

A friend of mine recently made one of those prehopped canned kits from the grocery store. It tasted like band aids.... highly unrecommended :)

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Been in primary for 10 days so I figured I'd take a gravity reading- my second AG batch so I'm eager to see what's going on in there. 1.008 from 1.048. It will go down more especially when some more of the solids settle out. Smells nice, can smell the corn and just a bit from the hops...

    Cooler as MLT

Thanks. I e-mailed back and asked specifically what plastics were used and was told that the plastic types used are "confidential" but the plastic is BPA free and is FDA approved. I have mashed twice with the cooler now with no issues. I am not too concerned really, but it would be nice to...

    Cooler as MLT

" Coleman does not manufacture any containers / coolers for hot liquid or food use. The insulation we use is for cold liquids and food only. Using hot liquids or foods in these products will cause the insulation to expand and warp the product making it unusable. Non of our Coolers contain BPA...

    Balancing fitness with beer drinking?

If you're like me and notice that once in awhile you've managed to gain 5 or 10 pounds, try this: 1. Stop drinking pop / soda. My bro loves coca-cola - stopped drinking it and lost 10 pounds! TEN. I stopped drinking it just before christmas and have noticed a difference already. It is...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I bottled this on Dec 9th and have been flying through it. I kicked up the IBUs a bit and it tastes piney, citrusy, grassy... anyway, it's great. The longer I keep it in the fridge the more it smooths out. Will need to make more soon. Thanks!

Irish Stout Ode To Arthur, Irish Stout (Guinness Clone)

Will be brewing this, hopefully sooner than later, with Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale. My yeast comes in on the 27th of January and I have all the grains. Man. Sometimes I am so impatient, I want to do it now!

    Carbon monoxide hazards are real

A bump, Does anyone do this on a hi-rise balcony? It is a partially enclosed deal - about 14 feet long, 8 feet high, 5 feet wide, with a 3ft brick railing. So basically there is an opening that is 14 feet by 5 feet. I barbeque out there regularly but have never used it for an hour - and...

    Improved boiling on the stovetop!

I give you..... "The aluminum monster" :D : This is how I got my recent 7.25gal boil to go. I am using a crappy electric apartment stove, so I remove all the other burners (because the pot just runs into them otherwise), tinfoil all the way underneath the pot and up the sides. Looks like...

    Cooler as MLT

I am using a 48qt Coleman chest cooler. The plastic interior is white and is a little bit soft. I e-mailed them to ask; if anyone knows about the plastic type used I'd rather hear it here, regardless I'll post whatever they say.

Seeking advice: Employer revoked accepted job offer

I'm from Canada but, Usually when you sign "new employee" paperwork it will contain a lot of clauses like "Your first year of employment will be considered a "probationary period" wherein your employment may be terminated at any time for any reason, or for no specified reason". Basically...
